    Fall tractor maintenance

The closest thing I do to "fall service" is to check coolant. Everything else goes according to hourly routine. Once the mowing season is over, we pull everything in the shop, one at a time, and do a full on service to start getting ready for NEXT season. :letitsnow:

    Hydraulic wood splitters

The MTD is virtually the same splitter as the Troy Bilt. I can't see yours well enough to see which motor you have. Many had a B&S. Mine has a Honda. Those Hondas are very frugal with the gas.

    why I have been quiet

By the way, say hi to Dougster for me next time you cross paths with him. We're STILL cutting up trees that Ike decided were in need of falling. I've got 6 more to cut up then I'm done. No shortage of firewood for the next couple years! Me and the Mrs are already looking forward to...

    Hydraulic wood splitters

Different people do things different ways. Personally, I wouldn't have a splitter that wouldn't operate vertically. In fact, that's why I waited so long before I bought one. I used a splitter that belongs to a bro-in-law a few years ago. It was fixed into horizontal position. After a few...

    Howdy from Kentucky

I thought we were out of the woods when we got a little rain a few weeks back. Just enough to stir up some green in the grass. Even last year as dry as it was, we were starting to get a little rain by now. Pastures are burnt up now and I doubt we'll get enough growth now, even if it does...

    Hydraulic wood splitters

The lions share of them on the market today will work either way. (vert or horizontal) You DEFINATELY want one like that! Best of both worlds!

    Howdy from Kentucky

If we don't get some rain a'fore long, there ain't gonna be anyplace to fish here. No rain since mid August and that wasn't near enought. Less than 2" since early June. Dryer,n talcum powder on a soda cracker!:pat:

    why I have been quiet

WOW.... You've sure been getting more'n your share of character builders here of late. Hope things get better a'fore long. This has been a rough year for some of us. Seems I'm starting to make it out the other end and finding daylight again. Hope the same happens for you soon. Bill

    Hydraulic wood splitters

I ain't no wussy! Never gonna sell me a dang hydraulic splitter. I'll bust wood all day with a maul................. .................or until I turn 60. Whew! Curses on that maul! OK. About a year ago, I bought a Wallenstien splitter that runs off the tractor hydraulics. MAN! Is...

Now THAT wasn't fun at all

Well, one thing about living in the central part of Kentucky that I'd never think I would need to worry about WAS a hurricane.:hide: That all changed last sunday (sept 14th) Hurricane Ike paid us a visit:eek: We had a prediction of wind gusting to 30+ mph. NO ONE expected what was to...

    Howdy from Kentucky

I'll post a picture or 3 of the SS Minnow when I get an opportunity. It's an 11' plastic tri-hull 2-man fishing boat. 2 live wells, bilge pump, lights, 2 built-in coolers, 2 swivel seats, and a spot for 2 batteries. Trailer is about what you'd expect for a little boat. No batteries or trolling...

    Heavy-Duty Industrial Box Blade?

I've owned a few diffeent box blades over the ages. Some with fixed rear blades, some with swinging rear blades. Long story short, I own two box blades now, BOTH with hinged blades. And I wouldn't own one WITHOUT. (Woods HB72 and HB84) I have access to a couple Gannon boxes at work, both...

    Howdy from Kentucky

Howdy gang. Sorry for a long absense. I'll try to be around here more often. Health has been good. Work has been almost overwhelming this summer. Jay and Bindian, what can I say other than I'm pulling for both of you. Life can be tough at times. We just have to try to be tougher. Doc tells me...
