rgm, you were right on your suggestion to check the lines. Although the couplings appeared to be connected properly, one was not seated all the way and when I pulled on them it disconnected. I connected it back properly and then checked the lift. It worked! Thanks again for your help.

Update: I got the lift working. It was only a minor hydraulic line issue. Thanks for the help. On the float issue; while doing all the trouble shooting on mine I found that if I push the lever all the way forward (down) it locks in the "float" position with no strain on hydraulics. Check out...
