I built a set up very similar to what you are talking about. I did use one inch solid stock for legs in the bed corner holes with a piece of three inch angle iron the width of the bed welded on top. Mounted the winch on top of the angle, then cut a four by four block that fits under the winch...
My 900 would do this and it turned out that the right front brake was hanging shut or part of the way shut. It finally started dragging to the point of excessive heat, had to rebuild the hub.
I do enjoy my work... most days! It's the days that I spend fixing the "toys" that can be a bit trying. If you think rtv parts are high, buy a mulcher.
I mulch for a living with similar equipment, and my rtv goes out on most jobs. I have never had any problems. I think you will be happy with the results.
