also have you checked the poppet valve that relieves pressure when the brakes are applied? if this valve is stuck open it would affect your pressure for sure.

sorry i can't help with your exact question. i would think that as long as it is near the center of the engine and the outer plug didn't interfere with anything then it wouldn't matter.

i'll bet there is a little bit of something in one of the check valves in the primary fuel pump. take it off and seperate the halves to check the diaphragm and the valves.
