    Mahindra Roxor

Reminds me of my first Jeep, a CJ5, that sounded like the engine was going to come out through the hood at 45 mph. It had 5:xx something axles and a 3 speed manual in addition to the 4WD and Lo-Range levers. The Speedo was big round thing in the middle of the dash. The heater was unable to keep...

Engine runaway with clouds of black smoke.

I agree 100%. See diagnosis post with a picture. I had the diagnosis Thursday morning, but wasn't able to get a good picture of it while it was in the shop. I had them save the pump for me so I could post a picture of it. Fitch

Engine runaway with clouds of black smoke.

I have the diagnosis. The mechanic at the Kubota dealer had a suspicion and had the problem diagnosed in about twenty minutes. There is a plate on the side of the injection pump that is retained by 4 tiny flat head machine screws. This plate holds a sliding rack. Two of the screws were...

Engine runaway with clouds of black smoke.

Thanks. That sounds like a really good hypothesis. Nothing that I can see or inspect is abnormal. But it was -2F and it didn't have winterized fuel init so the poppets could be dysfunctional due to precipitated wax/gel. Fitch

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll follow up on them. Fitch

Engine runaway with clouds of black smoke.

Hi, Not been here for a while. But, I have a problem that's got me puzzled. My RTV (2004) started fine (temperature about -2F) and was left to warm up while I did some quick tasks in the barn. It started to make an odd noise and when I looked down the barn aisle, there was so much black smoke...

New Kubota next year that runs 50mph ?

I'd have exactly zero interest in one of those. With my nephew's kids living next door, the 2004 we have now goes plenty fast enough. But then I don't have much use for the fancy aluminum wheels and cabs either. Ours gets used every day, at least twice a day at chore time with an open cab and a...

    RTV X900 Starting Problem Help

The only time I've ever had trouble starting my 2004 RTV 900W was when the battery was going bad. I'd suggest testing it. My 2004 ZD21, on the other hand, had a starter solenoid that was getting cooked by the exhaust manifold. I bought a heat shield that comes on the newer incarnation of that...

    RTV front strut replacement.

I needed to change the front struts on my RTV. Found the HD set on sale for half off the price of the regular ones, so bought them. I swapped the springs to put the old standard springs on the new struts because we don't have any front end attachments and didn't need the stiffer ride. I only...

    I'd like some guidance on buying a 2004 rtv900

For what it's worth, I have a 2004 RTV with 2500 hours on it. I purchased it new with the the fiberglass roof, work light, and water filter kits added. It's had regular maintenance done by myself. The things I've done to modify/repair it other than routine maintenance (oil and filter changes...

    Stuck in reverse

Yes, really. Even better, it's e-mailed as a PDF file so you can print it and haul it to the shop, get it greasy and print another one. I print and 3 hole punch them. put them in the looseleaf that has the service manual. Fitch

    Diesel fuel treatments??

I'm not running old fuel. We fill the tank with winterized fuel in the fall. It lasts us all winter. It got down near zero last winter. My only problem was not having Super UDT2 in the tranny so it was a little sluggish until it warmed up. I changed the tranny oil to super UDT2 when it was due...

    Diesel fuel treatments??

Well, golly. I never use them, any of them. My ZD21 Diesel mower is a 2004 model with 1,400 hours on it. My RTV is a 2004 Model with 2,140 hours on it. My nephew's CAT 953B had 6,500 hours on it when he sold it, and he never used any fuel additives. The injection systems are working perfectly...

    Stuck in reverse

Up until recently I've always purchased the service manuals for my cars and trucks. The Kubota manual is more like kindergarten scribbling with a dull crayon compared to manuals from the major car manufacturers. Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota and Chrysler manuals will spoil you really quickly. The...

Shifter stuck in reverse, 2004 RTV900W

I didn't get the picture. My buddy came over, we got focused on getting it done, and so taking pictures fell off the radar. You can figure out what's in there by looking at the parts diagram. That's what I did. Fitch

    Stuck in reverse

I just did the same thing on mine. The shifter mechanism on these things isn't all the robust now that I've looked at it. I have to take the top off mine again to put some sealant in the joint. When I do I'll get some pictures. If I remember. My 73 year old cranial velcro isn't as sticky as it...

Shifter stuck in reverse, 2004 RTV900W

Thanks. I studied the parts diagrams and the service manual for a while - mug and a half of coffee while. Took the part off, re-alighed the forks and reinstalled it. It fixed the problem. I need to get some sealant, remove it, clean, put in the sealant, and it will be good to go. What bothers...

Shifter stuck in reverse, 2004 RTV900W

I backed up to the barn door. It's a grade. Done it several hundred times. I usually flip the lever out of reverse just as I'm stopping. I didn't this time. When I got back in and tried to get it out of reverse, it resisted. I tried all the usual tricks, none worked, then I pushed on the lever...

Changing the Front Boots on RTV900

That'll work. I liked your approach - a lot. I do that sort of thing when I need to proof a process. Well done. Edited to add: If you have time, please list the drill size, the taps used, and the part number of the insert. I think I saw some Red Loctite. If not, did you use any thread glue...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

Definitely getting it clean first is a good idea. The pressure washer is your friend. I do the same thing. I may be doing this before the end of the summer. I plan to take the bed off. At my age I plan things like getting down on the floor a week in advance. Everything I can do to improve...
