    Rusty Fuel Tank

I've used the Kreem on motorcycle tanks and it works like a champ! But, it ain't cheap (about $50 for the three part chemicals)...

    UPDATE ON UPDATE

Bill, I would sure pull the valves and face the valves and seats. Toss in a set of valve stem seals and the head is good to go another 30+ years. Use a good shop Vacuum when you de-carbon the piston tops. It will remove all the debris in the cylinders and prevent any damage to the walls and...

Thanks JD110 . Battery going dead

Tom, It sounds like you're zeroing in on the problem. You might want to spend some time removing, cleaning (or replacing) all the grounds and positive connections on your tractor. Poor, corroded and loose/dirty connections are most often the cause of poor starting...even when the battery is at...

Thanks JD110 . Battery going dead

Forgive my ignorance but have you load tested the battery? Perhaps it's sulfate'd enough to not keep the full charge? If you're getting 14.5V at the battery....I can't imagine what else it could be other than poor electrical storage (?).

    Diesel in crankcase?????

NO....:yum: It means a simple removal of the inlets and replace the O rings. You don't have to remove the pump. These pumps are 'hardy' and trouble free providing the fuel filters are serviced (replaced) and fresh, clean fuel is used. Yep, that will work as a temporary fix, but you may still...

    Diesel in crankcase?????

He Bill and welcome to NTT! It's not uncommon, with age, that the fuel leaks past the pump "O" rings (#24). They will eventually crack or break from heat and cool cycling (and wet-dry cycling). Once they're a problem, fuel leaks past the pump internal assembly through the timing case cover, and...

    Tiller Parts

Hey California, I'm pretty sure Ernie does...or did. He attached a picture for someone who inquired about tillers and parts. The picture showed them four and five deep, and some stacked on top of others. The line had to be, maybe eighty feet long (70 ea. + maybe?). Funny thing about those...

    Tiller Parts

Hi Robert, You can often substitute the Yanmar shaft with Kubota, Mitsubishi etc.. You may have to have the length altered but if it's 1 3/8" - 6 spline X fine spline (implement side) they work just dandy. If you are looking for someone that probably has these parts in their inventory you...

    Welders ?

Congratulations! Great reviews on the Hobart 187. I believe that the 'Tri-Mix' gases cover everything from stainless to aluminum. And the whole gas thing simplified is that it alters the burning atmosphere, minimizes metal distortion and isolates the penetration to a small area you're welding...

    ym240 project

Sorry for the long delay... A good Cetane booster like PowerService would help difficult starting and the stuff works well by keeping your injectors lubricated too. You might not miss any loss in performance up there, but you would see an increase at sea-level. Mark

Ignition or fuel shut off problem?

Welcome to NTT !! Fairly certain that you have the throttle linkage slightly misaligned and it's not shutting your FI Pump off. When the hand throttle is fully forward, it should stop the fuel flow and "Kill" the engine almost immediately. Sometimes a simple cleaning with a spray solvent will...

    tractor safety question

Hello Robin and welcome to NTT! I'm not sure what the answer is but I've noticed fatigue and the "Shakes" after long sessions using my tractor. Factor in using and watching rear implements that DO cause neck strain too. Visibility, or the lack of, certainly does contribute to operator fatigue...

I think the amount is insignificant. I know several people around here that add as much as a quart per 5 gallons in the winter fuel. Mark
