    1510D update

The engine is now rebuilt, but the mechanic messed with the injector pump instead of simply removing it. The pump is going to the injection service shop today. More $$$. I should have done the job myself!:pat:

Just pulled down YM1510 D engine - arghh!

I'll have to replace a four foot gate with a six foot gate between pastures, but that's a small price to pay for those advantages! I'm tired of dropping the bucket when the little bugger starts tipping on me!

Just pulled down YM1510 D engine - arghh!

Yep; all but the stripped stud. By the way, how popular is reversing the rear wheels on the 1510?

Just pulled down YM1510 D engine - arghh!

It's put back together but the shop stripped a rocker arm shaft stud. It'sordered and I'm waiting.

Thanks Leonard. I need pistons, rings, bearings, and gaskets. Have you put together a rebuild kit?

Four years. No warrantee. It's been a real workhorse! I miss it already!!

Just pulled down YM1510 D engine - arghh!

Needs rings, bearings, gaskets, possibly pistons. Had topped up the oil, then worked it for two days moving a burn pile. The next day it wouldn't start. Low compression. I blamed an inadequate air filtration system, but it was almost out of oil! Don't know how that happened in tow days...

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

It's gravity feed and there are no air leaks. Thanks though.

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

I'm confused. Suction side of the system on a diesel? Air intake side doesn't have leaks - it's an open door!

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

I spent a couple of hours disassembling an injector, plugging the inlet port and modifying one of the adaptors in my Harbor Freight diesel compression checker to fit the Yanmar injector body. I checked the cylinder next to the firewall and got 95 lbs of compression. Didn't bother to check the...

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

I pulled the inspection plate - the vertical operating lever at the back of the pump cavity is working fine. I didn't see anything else connected to the shaft. I pulled the muffler to check for coking - none. I cranked the engine with muffler off and a steady flow of diesel mist came out of the...

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

I loosened an injector line and turned the engine over with throttle closed - no fuel came out. I turned it over with throttle open - fuel came out. I'm running out of possible answers.

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

Further details I loosened the fuel ines to the injectors. Fuel is coming to the injectors. I took off the intake hose. The Thermostart is working properly. I aimed a heat gun down the intake and it didn't help. It appears to me that even though the throttle arm is working properly, the...

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

OK; that's my Yanny. No glo-plugs, and an injector fed little white bottle. How do I troubleshoot it? It won't start at all now!

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

OK, that sounds like I have the late-model Thermostart system. How do I troubleshoot it? It won't start at all now!

My 1510 is smoking like a hot-rodded Cummins.

    redneck biodiesel... I'm sure it's been done!:pat:

New problem: 1510 is hard starting.

How would I identify the ignitor bottle if I have one? I have no bottles with removable caps. I do have a plastic filter-looking thing on top of my engine running from the injectors back to the injector pump, but it has no cap.

Mine's pretty high, but my tractor doesn't use any at all...
