Sounds good, but it is so close to the price of a new one .....if you are going to finance part of the purchase you would be better off going with a new one.
Much better interest rates which equates to a lower overall price. Plus, it's new!!!!!!!
My preference is to shop for a tractor, boat, car or truck that is a year or two old. Many times you can save thousands and have a practically new item.
That strategy has worked well on trucks, boats and cars. However on tractors they hold their value too well.. I've never seen one a couple of years old with enough of a discounted price that I could not do better for myself buying new.

How can something hold it's value that can't be gotten rid of because you can buy new for about the same money with better cheaper financing?
I don't see how this can last for very long.

I know what you mean LB. I couldn't find anyone willing to cut the price enough to make me consider buying slightly used. Since I've bought a new one I've watched buy/sell and trade papers seeing what kind of deals are out there. But that has been in passing. There might be better deals out there, but I didn't find them. So ...a long winded way of saying your mileage may vary.

I must agree with you Doc.

I spent way too much money and time renting equipment while shopping for that bargain price on a fairly new tractor. Not sure if it's the current trend and due to the great suburban flight, but SCUTs and CUTs that are fairly new and low hours just demand far too much money.

I accidentally stumbled into the middle ground between brand new and worn out - And that was the 25 year old, low hour, well equipped gray market tractors. Not for everybody...but filled my needs and budget perfectly.

What would be a gray market Kubota comparable to the kubota BX1500 ?

LB,
To the best of my knowledge there are no known specifications, including engine sizes, number of cylinders and tractor dimensions available for the gray market Kubota in the U.S.

Even finding one would be quite by accident, as the tractor would have to of been purchased before Kubota won their trademark law suit against gray market importers quite a few years ago.
The following is the Most current tractor models I’ve found on Kubota’s list of gray market tractors exported to the U.S

There are many, many gray market tractors with a two cylinder, 15 engine HP and 3PH that are very similar to the Kubota BX1500. A well equipped YM1510D (Yanmar) under 1000 hours, including a finish mower and FEL will still be less than 1/2 the price of a similarly equipped BX1500. The YM1510D is a 4WD, power-shift transmission with 3PH and FEL lift capabilities that are far greater than the BX1500. I'm not sure if you could find one with a MMM. (?)

As far as I know there arent any Kubota Sub-CUT imports. The B5000 is about as small as they come, and that is a CUT frame size.

I had a B6000 which has 12HP at the engine, but was physically bigger than a BX. Bigger rear tyres, more ground clearance, bigger axles......
