Ammo-The plot is just starting.

Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo in America. (they

sell 9 mm, .45, etc ammo)

They normally buy spent brass from the US Dept of Defense
- 'one time

used' shell casings by our Military - from training on Military bases,

etc. They buy the brass and then re-load for resale to Law Enforcement,

Gun Shops, Gun Clubs, Wal-Mart, and etc.

They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner of Georgia Arms and said

that from now on the DoD will be destroying the brass - shredding it.

It is no longer available to the Ammo makers - unless they just buy it

in a scrap shredded condition (which they have No use for). The

shredded brass is NOW going to be sold by the DoD to China as scrap

metal....after the DoD pays for it to be shredded. The DoD is selling

the brass to China for less money than Ammo manufacturers have been

paying...plus the DoD has to pay to have the brass shredded and do all

the accounting paperwork. That sure helps the US economy now,
doesn't

it? Sell cheaper to China - and do not sell shells at all to a proven

US business. Any agenda working here???? Obama going after our

ammunition!!!!!

The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his competitors

had already purchased a load of brass last week - and the DoD contacted

him this week and said they were sending someone over to make sure it

was destroyed. Shell Casings he had already bought! THE BRASS HAS
NO

VALUE TO THE AMMO MAKER IF IT IS DESTROYED/SHREDDED/MELTED. THE AMMO

MANUFACTURER ONLY USES THE EMPTY BRASS SHELLS TO RELOAD DIFFERENT

CALIBERS - MAINLY .223 BULLETS.

Georgia Arms owner says that he will have to lay off at least Half
of

his 60 workers, within 2 - 3 months if the DoD no longer sells their

spent brass to him. He has 2 - 3 months inventory of shells to use. By

summer - he's out. If he has to buy new manufactured brass shells, then

the cost of ammunitioin to the buyer will double and triple...plus Obama

wants to add a 500% tax on each shell.

Loss of US jobs, control of ammunition by the new Obama

administration....liberalism at its best and on the way to socialism.

When times get bad...and they will very soon...only the bad will have

guns and ammo. This new "Obomanation" is going to make good citizens

into crinimals by trying to take our guns and ammo.

well this is bad for all new handgun and new rifle ammo like winchester. but me i mainly buy wolf and old military surplus that really don't come from the U.S i try to buy in bulk like isreali surplus or russian surplus. this will really hurt the U.S.A military if it ever needs ammo they seem to be biteing the hands that are feeding them. if i was you i would buy as much surplus ammo as i could sure the remington is more accurate but if the shtf and you need to lay down some fire an ak47 ain't no tac driver to begin with now i try to pickup a few boxs here and there of some good quality ammo for my .270 and my m4 that way if i need to place some good shots i have some nice ammo but lets face it most shots are gonna be well under 300 yards . i wish i had a way to melt down the brass i save scrap metal and i get prass all the time same with lead/copper i get all the materials to make my own bullets but i don't have the tools. right now i have over 200lbs of copper and about 300lbs of lead. and i just sold my brass but i picked up some the oher day so i have about 30 lbs of that.. i have the fire bricks to make the furnace because i save the bricks out of the dump too i lined my yard with them so i don't have to walk in mud when it rains. so if someone has the equipment to make the bullets i can surley get the material we can partnerup.

Now that really gives me a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. I need to stock up on shells. The way people are going nuts with weapons isn't doing us normal folks any good . That's for sure.... I had been thinking on getting or making one of those little forges in order to make brass buckles. I got some good infomation by googling metal casting . I waddled thru a lot of things and remember stumbling across some books on furnace making. They were so old they had "free domain" and google had the for download free in their {google} library. I found another book that used waste oil to make a fire hot enough to melt iron."The Artful Bodger's Iron Casting Waste Oil Furnace"by Colin Peck on ebay. I know you are talking about brass which will melt at a much lower temp. Anyway, You might find something there on brass. Bordercollie

There's reports all over that most places are pretty much out of ammo. Supply/Demand has also made prices sky-rocket. Some are talking of gouging but I haven't seen any proof.

I have heard from people that say their local Wally World has started rationing or putting 2-box limits on purchases because people were buying so much in bulk, it emptied their shelves in minutes.

I'm glad I was already in decent shape and just needed to "top off" in a couple calibers. I'm looking at prices that are outrageous. I paid 12-15 cents per round of .223. It's now about 45 cents per round.

Just shows the stupidity of our government and parts thereof... I know my wife works for a government entiety,, Let's save money by doing such and such, and the next thing you know, Washington says no way,, we are hiring those non speaking English people in India to hear your concerns... What we need desperately is a cival war from within, starting with DC and throwing every single person out of office, stopping their lifetime 80 grand plus a year retirement and starting over with all brand new people. The other two new laws shoud be no attorneys can run for office and 8 years is the max one can serve,,

A two-term max for all political offices would go a long way towards decreasing the corruption and self-serving legislation that breeds in DC (and Ottawa and all other capitals). Mind you, every politician in the USA and Canada has been voted in by a constituency who thought that person was their best choice. Pretty scary!

Hi Rusty and All, Can you believe that I had access to all of those wonderful things and my Uncle's knowledge and I let it slip thru my hands? I was able to get his small forge though. the old blower and anvil was hauled off before I could get it. As a kid,I found some ornate bars of nickel with intricate detail on them years ago in our old Arkansas barn next to his shop. I was glad I kept up with them thru all of my moves. And I bought an anvil a few years ago. Now I just need time to mess with it. I also saw how to make a hot forge using wheel /brake parts , pipe and an old hairdryer. All of that is very interesting. When I first saw your "handle" I thought you might be a metal worker/former of some sort. Thank you Rusty!! I like fooling with this stuff or at least dreaming about doing something on that order one day. Bordercollie

The lastest BS here in N.Y. is to raise the tax on ammo so nuts like the guy in Bingamton can't afford so many rounds. Who are they kidding! If someone is planning on "checking out" anyway I don't think they are going to care about the price of ammo. Local shop in Pa.is having problems keep some calibers in stock and yes the price is up but mostly due to the extra fed taxes. I do not buy ammo in N.Y. if I don't have to. I hope prices stabilize after a bit, but I believe they will jump if they start trying to put more taxes on.
