Rotary Mower or Flail Mower?

I need to upgrade my mower for field mowing. I have about 24 acres to mow. It is not hay, just weeds and stuff the cattle doesn't want to eat. I think a 8 to 10 foot mower would work with my tractor. It is a John Deere 1450.

Do you think that is too much mower for the tractor?

Which type of mower is better, flail or rotary?

Thanks,

rotary will cost a LOT less.
with 50 PTO HP you should be able to handle a 10' mower, especially with halfway sharp blades.

That is what I was thinking. I've had some tell me that 10' is too much, but then they were selling a 7 footer. Looking at the specs for some of the mowers, the draw bar pull units take less hp than a 3 point.
