Fixed 1973 ford front end loader

I thought my ford 2000 front end loader cylinders needed to be resealed. Bucket would not move and lift arms would hardly go up. Found a filter in the bottom of the left side hydraulic fluid tank. Unscrewed the four bolts that hold the plate with the big fluid hose that goes to the pump. The filter is in there. It has a pre-filter screen on top. Mine was totally clogged. It looked like fiber pieces of deteriorated hydraulic hose had formed a mat that was restricting oil flow to the pump at the front of engine. I hope this helps someone who is having the same problem as I had.

Great post. I checked my 71' 3400 tractor. It looks like someone removed the filter you discuss and replaced it with a hose extension.
I took a photo and will post it once I get the photo from my phone to my computer.
I was kind of excited because the front end loader on my tractor is pretty jerky and sluggish. Same with the PTO lift in the back.
