FBI should fastrack WALLSTREET investigations. Congress should allocate millions for Special Investigators. Justice dept. should subpoenae all financial records from criminal conspiracy to defraud U.S. taxpayers. Noone who ever took money from Wall Street should take part in any legislation or investigation involving Attempted Misappropriation of Federal Funds. Bush impeachment proceedings should begin immediately this is a REAL CRISIS and It is The most important CRISIS facing our nation TODAY. NO options should be taken off the table! THIS IS TREASON ON A MASS SCALE!!!

If you would bother to study your constitution you might be surprised to learn that it is congress that funds the programs that you seem now to disagree with, IOW social engineering and capitalism are not compatible!!

In the 90's the mantra was housing for those that could not afford it and that became the law of the land, while that may of been the Dem compassionate view (or how to buy votes ) of the day you are now going to pay for "lets feel good gone bad and the votes it bought"

Our problems today have roots from way back - things have been going downhill ever since Johnson's "Guns AND Butter" program in the mid '60s, when he robbed the Social Scurity trust fund. Too bad the social engineering experiment didn't bust with the dot com bubble that was largely used as justification for "We can afford it."

Well at least Congress didn't rubber stamp Bush's big ripoff for CEOs. I think social engineering is working just fine after all we have more millionaires than ever before and the top 1% have more money than ever before. Corruption is rife in Congress. Exxon has enjoyed record profit and billions more in GOVERNMENT subsidies while here on mainstreet we suffer from High prices and Veterans die in the gutters of cities they gave their blood and youth and vigor and lives to protect. Yeah your right we cant afford a warm dry place for poor children to sleep. We spend all our money on the Defence Industry and subsidies for the railroad, Farm subsidies to giant corporations and politititians. So just let the veterans die under the bridges and let the poor children sleep in their parents cars. We still have plenty of money for the rich to ride in private jets and motorcades and soon we'll have new HERO's to emulate the TRILLIONAIRES!! I can hardly wait how about you?

""I can hardly wait how about you?""

Well since you asked allow me to respond to your ?

  1. By your own words it's obvious that you are not the original person responsible for the thoughts that you espouse!
  2. Should they be proved wrong would you be as vocal in the repudiation of what you so viscously proclaim as a fact?

bailouts

These bailouts are a horrible idea. This is what happens when politics and economics become intertwined. We can all blame banks, private interests, corrupt CEO's; call for indictments and impeachments...... but we have been doing that for far too many years. Congress and the American public didn't pay attention to the lessons of the past. A capitalist economy has to be kept separate from the federal government or a welfare state will emerge. Welfare states evolve rapidly into socialist states then to communist states. We are already embedded in a welfare state. This bailout is the federal goverment taking control of the consumer lending industry via the federal reserve bank and ushering in socialism that would make FDR jealous. The consumer lending industry can fall and take the majority of the economy with it, or we can wait and let the economy fully correct itself while waiting patiently for the congressional election season to roll around. The best solution is the latter. 100% replacement of all elected government officials would send a message. These bums work for us, not us for them. Full blown socialism is being considered by power hungry politicians that have apparently forgotten about the oath to uphold the constitution that they all recite.

Here's a background story that sheds some light on the crisis.

While flaky borrowers are one element of the problem, there are far more dollars at risk in the market that swaps loan guarantees. The total market for loan guarantees is about 3 times larger than the total value of the underlying mortgages! And that market has crashed; nobody can sell their guarantee contracts even though the value of underlying mortgages is unlikely to fall to zero.

It is those speculators who find their guarantee contracts unsalable, who sent in the lobbyists to try and get the US government to buy their valueless contracts. This isn't the same thing as promoting the interests of homeowners.

Here's a New York Times article describing this market and its problems. Be sure to click on the related chart, too.

I don't believe I ever had an original thought. I think probably my first thought was 1 that billions of other people had before me. I'm Hungry .......WAAAAA!!!!! I'm curious though what part of my post do you think was most viscious? Was it the part about calling for FBI investigations or was it the part about impeaching bush? Veterans dying alone and broke under bridges? Chidren with no warm comfortable bed? We live in a world that provides enough prosperity for all GOD's children but we spend most of our money on weapons. Viscious? Yes I confess,if I were God I would let my viscious impulses loose on this planet! THANK GOD HE IS GOD!!! I don't want that job! If you want original thoughts I can help you. Read THE HOLY BIBLE kjv its just full of them!

Do you trust Bush ? Do you think he has done well in his Presidency? Are you ok with Iraq, Afganistan,Guantanimo bay, torture, renditions ,the CIA,FEMA,Chemtrails, the hollowing out of manufacturing infrastructure, immigration legal and illegal,9/11. Do you think things are looking good? If so then by all means give him FULL AUTHORITY over your finances. These are not original thoughts I copied them from other people!!!!

No, I sure don't trust Bush, but what has me confused is that the Dems are for this bailout and the Repubs are against.
Good link Chris (CA)! :thumb: The whole situation is hard for me to grasp. Even the economists say a bailout will only delay the inevitable. in other words it will delay this bubble bursting that Greenspan delayed with his tactics when he was in charge. Why delay it more? Why bail out these poorly managed companies?
I heard today that the president or CEO of Washington Mutual was hired Sept 7th. He got a 7 million signing bonus and if he was released for any reason the contract said he would be paid 6 million. So the man has made 13 million in less than 30 days and is now out of work. What a sweet deal. I am shocked that the boards running these companies make such ludicrous contracts. Nobody is worth that much and you would have thought WaMu would have read the writing on the wall.
Also all know the number 700 billion is not the actual total but why aren't their plans that offer maybe 300 billion to ease the situation? They are stuck on that 700 billion. When is the last time that these people have made an accurate prediction? These are the same people who kept us from drilling for oil, will not pass term limits, add pork to any bill they can etc.
We should NEVER reelect anyone. I wish there was a way we could stop the life time salary that every congress person gets even after leaving office. What a rip off.
I'll quit for now .....

Doc, I have also tried to understand this . Mabe the board members get a kick back somehow. That's the 13 mil. question that investagors should be asking... Anyway, I guess I won't be getting anymore c.c. offers in the mail from wamu:D

If the bailout doesn't occur...I hope NO ONE on this forum will need to get a loan in the foreseeable future...loan rates are rising as we speak or being denied...:(

That being said...if the bailout occurs and these financial institutions deep six...EVERYONE is going to be paying for a long time...:(

This is the proverbial DEVIL and The Deep Blue Sea conundrum...

Congress and the President came to agreement on a bailout.
For better or worse that is what we get.
Time will tell if we are just delaying the inevitable and putting this monster in the laps of our children and grandchildren.

  7. Doc I have no special insight but I can tell you folks that I feel this is a hell of a lot bigger than a bread box and we are being treated as though we can't cope with what is left unsaid/undone and I'm afraid that's the God awful truth!!
  8. May God help us all! If this were a centipede and it had shoes we have only seen the first shoe fall!

I give up! I cannot expose how the insidious and focused the attack on the common man has evolved, but I will say that unless someone stops "THEM" America will go the way of every other country that Led The World! The great experiment will have FAILED! Our Country will soon belong to another than We The People of The United States! What happened in Germany,Cambodia,Ruwanda and is happening now in Iraq,Afganistan,Sudan and somalia will happen here! Stopping It will require intervention from GOD and unless a True Revival sweeps this nation I believe He will do no more than send angels for Lott and his family! May all you good people be in HIS family!

Pete...you do realize you are on a forum whose primary mission is to discuss tractor issues?

Politics is sort of a diversional discussion on this site...at least that is my take on it...
