John Deere 2040

I have in my workshop a John Deere 2040 which has hydraulic problem, when the hydraulic are in the raised position with engine running they are ok but when i stop the engine the hydraulic go down with the lever still in the raised position any one had this problem and sorted it

If it goes down that quick with an implement on it, it could be a bad o-ring in the control valve. That will let the fluid leak back.

I agree. Replace orings 20, 21, and 23 in diagram. It only shows one valve there. There are actually 2. One is for pressure, and one is for return. Usually it is the larger oring #23. While it is apart, replace the piston seal also.
