Cub Cadet 1862

I picked up one of these tractors tonight to rebuild and use for mowing. It has the Kohler 18HP Twin, shaft drive, hydro tranny, power deck lift and power steering. It runs great, goes like a bat out of hell and seems to mow pretty decent. I mowed the seller's lawn in the rain. This mower belonged to his deceased FIL. I got tired of my box store hard to turn MTD steering wheel. I decided it was time to enjoy mowing the grass. Of course the price of $500.00 was the final determining factor on buying this mower. I do need to adjust or replace the brakes, adjust the shift linkage, replace the seat cover and a few other details to get it back to looking nice again. I may even pull it all apart and paint it all up to look like new again. I feel spoiled just sitting on it. Now I have a little brother for my Cub 7275. Here's big brother and little brother. The picture of little brother is from the ad. I noticed that it is not my tractor. Mine has a black deck on it. Now I know why the tractor looked so good in the pictures. That's ok, he wanted $1000.00 for it. I almost passed on it until he said just make me an offer. I need it gone.

Nice find, Jim. We don't seem to find deals like that down here, although I was given a 1420 a while back. Took a month just to get it moving by itself. I have about $200 in it and am at the same stage. Tear it apart and paint it or just use it?

I do like that 7275. I see you have added air conditioning. We would need that down here, too.

Hi Ted, I mowed with the new machine the other day. It runs like a dream. I did change all the fluids/filters on it and greased it up. I do have a slight binding in the steering. Sometime in the near future I will have to look at it. My 7275 does not have AC. It does however have a heater for our cold winters.

I'll try to get my tongue out of my cheek for a while.

I saw at the other place that you took care of the binding. Good job. Now all you need is one of those steering wheel spinners with the picture of the girl on it. Come to think of it, we put those on the steering wheels cause we didn't have power steering.

Have you found Only Cub Cadets yet? Lots of IH and CC Corp. owners sharing help. They even put up with MTD Cubs.

The steering on this Cub is the same as my 7275. It is just a steering spool. So I figured I would just force the heck out of it on the hard spots with the tractor off. It worked like a charm. Now I have to remount the hood hinge bolts. The rest of the machine works great. One other minor thing. I need to spread the rear two mounting bracket lifting arms for the mower deck. If I hit a big bump or dip on a grade the mower deck unhitches in the back. The arms are too narrow and can fall off one pin. Once that happens the deck falls off the other pin. Just another minor fixit for an old machine. I mowed today and the grass didn't even need it yet. I'm just having fun with the new toy. My neighbor stopped by to ask if I liked mowing grass. LOL

Suicide Knobs were fun in the 70's. I had one on my 56 Chevy. The cops made me remove it because the state outlawed them here in Communist Taxachussetts. Naked woman on the knob sounds good to me. I'd probably get arrested here for displaying porn in the open. LOL

Thanks for the link to the other Cub website. I'll check that one out too.
