ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road), entered into force in 1968, is the arragement of rules and regulations for safety transportation of hazardous goods like ful, lpg, lng and chemicals. These rules are also for the semi-trailers. There are some classes and tanker codes regulated according to different materials which the tanker will carry.

The materials used during the manufacturing of the tanker semi trailer should be exproof first of all. Manholes on the top for entrance into the compartment, api-couplings for discharge and filling, electrical systems, brakes, axles, buffles between the compartments, landing gear. Additionally, related warning labels, pictograms should be attached on the chassis in conformity with the regulations mentioned in ADR rules. The type of the material should be labelled also. "33-1203" is for gasoline for instance.

There are certain hazard classes in order to identify the different materials. "Class 3" for instance stands for flammable liquids.
