Stuck in reverse

I've never had to do this deed, but you get to the forks from the plate on top of the transmission... (as I understand it) so it not as big of a deal as it would be for entering the transmission in a big way . Thank Goodness for that ! There should be diagrams on the Messicks site parts page.. bordercollie

edit : I 'd also check the cables and under the hood at the lever mechanism before anything else on the chance it could be bent or in a tight bend (the cable) .

Good old internet, I googled and found this thread because I have a RTV 900 stuck in reverse. Popped the shifter cover and sure as hell the toggle pin was out off the forks. Once you're in there once, it definitely a 15 minute fix. My only question is there a certain type of rtv sealant you need to use when you replace the cover and bolt it down?
