One Man Deck Project

Last fall I decided to build this little deck for four reasons,
  1. Wanted an outside exit for the second floor
  2. Needed a covered area for my Tractor and ETC
  3. Great view of the Lake
  4. Was bored and wanted something to do!!

Nice Deck Dean!

Did you have to get a permit to build that deck? It seems pretty high up to not require a permit.

 Yes and No, I did ask my GF and she said "sure why not"! ;)

Out here we sorta just do it, I've been a builder for years so it's just kinda taken for granted but the TAX assessor saw it anyway....:badidea:

Thanks for the comment and the question .

Nice deck Dean.

What size are your floor joists? I could not tell from the photographs.

Bob, they are 2"x8"x16' Select, pressure treated and crowned on 16" centers. The open non supported span is 14'.0" covered with Severe Weather®
5/4" x 6" x 16' Top Choice ACQ Decking (no knots). Very stable and no bounce, all screwed!
