Need help with mounting a plow to my rtv 900

So I have been looking for a plow for our rtv 900 for a while and I came across this on craigslist it is 6ft wide so I figured it would work perfect for it so I went and looked at it tonight and it is in great shape so I went ahead and bought it. Now the question is how to mount it. I am thinking about making the mount so it slips in the 1inch receiver on the front of the rtv but doing that has me worried if my plan of using a winch to lift it would work since there wont be much of an angle from the winch to the plow A frame. I figured I would see if anyone had any other ideas? and I don't know what brand plow it is so if anyone can help with that it would be appreciated too. Thanks, Nick

Look about 15 or so threads back at (which plow 2 buy) . The plow I changed over to fit a Kubota 1100 is similar in construction. It was for a Jeep. Also it was lifted by a winch. I just made a hydralic lift to use the bed lift that was already on the Kubota. If you like, the next time I put the plow on I can take more pictures.

I put a JD 74 blade off of a 4xxx series tractor on my 1100. It is full hydraulic blade, but Mother Deere wanted way too much for a replacement cylinder hence my log chain tilt system. I made a sub-frame out of 1.5 inch thin wall square tubing that runs the length of the buggy frame to the front hinge point of the rear axle/engine assembly. The sub-frame is designed to be pushed from the rear axle attachment points versus the front brush guard area. It hangs off the frame where the brush guard attaches. The blade front frame hanger is placed between the brush guard and buggy. I had it powder coated with a gray close to Kubota gray.

The JD blade is an actual dirt blade, not a snow blade. 82" wide with wing extensions. It probably weighs close to 500 pounds. Had to upgrade to air struts to keep the front-end geometry of the suspension from bottoming out.

This set up works good. I have pushed loose dirt and the dirt was rolling over the top of the blade. Works good in snow too. I put two 100-pound tractor weights in the bed for weight for the rear wheels. Unfortunately, I have lost most of the ground clearance with the sub-frame. Fortunately, it can be removed by releasing the spring release attachment points and backing out of sub-frame.

I would greatly appreciate that. The other thing I am kinda worried about is that the blade is to tall and might be a bit to heavy so I was thinking about lowering the top of it 2-3 inches but Im not sure yet, what do you all think of that idea?

Sure looks like an older Meyers plow like I had on my 52 Willys. I would not worry about the height or the weight. Get yourself a pair of shoes for it and the weight won't be an issue and actually will be nice for peeling packed snow. You will soon learn to do most of your plowing without having to change the angle much. I used to do 8 places plus my lane with it angled one way and then turn it and go back and redo them to push the other side. The tall blade will help keep it from rolling snow back over the top. You might be able to find a mount on an old jeep in a junkyard and adapt it.

Ok I wont cut it down, I just ordered these weld on mounts that fit it so Im probably going to weld them to a piece of angle iron and bolt it on if possible.


I also think I am going to mount it under the hitch that way I can put a bit of a pole in it and put a pulley on top of it for the winch line to run through to make it have more of an angle so it can lift higher and easier. I will be sure to keep you posted on the progress since I am going to tear it all down and repaint it also. Thanks for all the help.

That looks great Spud! You ended up with a very similar hydraulic control to what I have.
Now you just need some snow.... Eh?

This is what my setup looks like...

This is how I mounted a 78 inch jeep plow to my 1100 RTV.
1st picture is the front guard. changed the reciver to 2 inch and welded 5/8 plate about 3X5 to the ends. This also shows the hydralic hoses that run from the rear.
2nd is the home made lift arm instaled to lift the blade.
3rd is the blade set up.
4ht is the blade hooked to the Kubota with PTO cable to operate the blade angle from inside the cab.
5th is the PTO inside the cab.

Well it took some time but I finally got the plow mount and lift done, Just in time for a storm too ended up working on it till 11 the night before the storm but here are some pics ill get some better ones of the mount once i take it off to paint it but it worked amazing in the snow, I had my worries but it pushed the snow like a champ.
