New guy with an old Kubota

Hello,

I joined so I could look at some of the homemade impements and such. I have an '85 Kubota 34 horse L2850 and a welder and I am not afraid to use it. It might look a little rough compared with your spiffy fiberglass jobs, but it gets used quite a bit and gets the job done.

Look forward to viewing your goods.

Hi Shinnlinger!
Welcome to Net Tractor Talk!
Be on the look out for Mith's creations. He is currently working on fabricating a back hoe. He made a loader earlier this year.
I hope you like it here.
Enjoy and post often. :thumb:

Welcome Shinnlinger.

Always fascinated by others hand made tools and implements. Look forward to your post and pictures.

shield your eyes boys!!!

Ok, Here she is..... I will try to post some more in the proper catagories, but in her current configuration you can sort of see the forks I whipped up for her, the canopy and the weight with skidder arm.

Nice setup there.

Who did the parking job in the background? Behind the vehicle, is that a pop-up camper or ??? (I can't tell in the pic but it almost looks like a VW van).

Is that a VW van or your roof ;) :D :D

Boys,

I thought this was a tractor forum...BUt yes, there is a VW westphalia in the roof of my barn. It serves nicely as a guest room (sleeps 4, sink, fridge and stove) and is a good place to watch a sunset.

OK, you can't leave that one alone... We're allowed to talk about other things on this forum. Love to have you start a thread about that project. More pics!!!

OK we will try this atachment of stuff my dad did.

The story is this. I was building a barn..the view was/is nice from the top. One buddy had a van with a bad motor and another had a crane and said "If you ever need to use it...." The rest is history.

Pretty wild!!!

You eluded to the fact it's usable. Got any pics from the inside of the barn? How is ingress/egress?
Does it sway heavily in the wind?

bczoom,

No picks yet, but there is a steep stairs that goes up from the hay loft and into the van floor and a heavy trap door which shuts once you are in it so you can walk around.

As far as wind goes it is pretty solid. We had a huge windstorm up here in April (neighbor recorded a speed in the high 80's...probably the fastest that van ever went!) that was blowing water in through the knots on my board and batten siding. I went up in it to see how she handled and watched my wellhouse blow away from the drivers seat.

That's the setup I was mentally picturing. But in my mental picture, there's also some sort of hoist as well. Carrying the case of beer up the stairs and through the trap door could tricky/hairy otherwise.

Post some pics if you can. I'd also like to see pics of the barn and its construction. Looking in the collage, it appears you did an overlapping double board setup as opposed to a traditional board and batten setup. But when I look at your original post, I see what appear to be battens. Did you do 2 layers of board then cap if off with batten?

MORE PICTURES!!!!!

there was plans for a 2 way zip line and a deck off the slider door side and a trash tube for empties, but that has been put on hold while I build my house.

I overlapped the second floor siding over the first and then snapped a line and cut them all to the same length at once. To tie this back to tractors, I actually did this from a platform I put on my bucket forks.

:yum: That has got to be one of the funniest things I have seen this week! What an excellent idea!

Please, more pictures and details!
Is there a post inside to support the weight, or does the structure support it on its own?

Awesome! :applause: :applause: :tiphat:

One of the neatest add ons I've seen for a barn. ....Now you got me thinking ....
