It was a Southen Maine issue, but they seem to be on the Northward move all the time. Buying up all the waterfront property, and other nice pieces of land. If we could evict all these illegal aliens we might just have a decent state once again. :eek:

Well, I won't push this anymore 'cause I can tell you are upset about it and you think I'm just out to buy THE TANK for 50 cents on the dollar... and I can't deny the obvious appeal of that thought... but I digress. If you are not up for some Texas-style justice, just do the best you can with the other ways. :o

Hey Dennis! :wave: We were talking about the old Edster and his problem with out-of-control snowmobilers zipping by his farm up in Maine... and his apparent unwillingness to shoot them!!! :yum:

I just want to buy his Mahindra 4530 (a.k.a., The TANK) dirt cheap! With him in jail and his wife having little interest, the thing would practically be mine!!! :cool:

I dont have to much problems with snowmobilers on my property. I know his pain, people now days feel they can ride anywhere they want, however if you step on their property:angry: :fight: No respect, none I tell ya! And as far as the Mahindra, well I am a Deere fan. I have a guy that is a Mahindra dealer near me. How are they on price and service and parts availablty, vs the bigger brands?

You will find a good number of Mahindra owners/fans here who are generally quite satisfied despite occasional frustration with MahindraUSA. You tend to get a lot of tractor for your money. Like any other brand, it helps to have a knowledgeable, experienced local dealer. Parts and service haven't been problems for anyone I know... no difference from the Big 3 or Big 5 depending on how you define the tractor world. I love my 4110/ML112/509BH... but bigger is always better and I would hope to own a 7520/ML275/511BH or 611BH someday. Problem is that I am dirt poor and have other equipment needs for the business so it probably ain't gonna happen tomorrow.

I sympathize with the old Edster on the snowmobile nuisance thang... and, in fact, that is one of my biggest concerns about moving to New Hampshire (which I still plan to do someday). Part of our plan is to build a highly insulated/soundproofed house... kinda like folks build next to highways... 'cause we know snowmobiles are an integral and unavoidable part of living up in snow country. :o

Does anyone have any Vultra tractors in your area? There is one on a John Deere dealer lot and I think it is a good deal.

No Valtra tractors anywhere around me. That could be a tough one for parts & service! ;) Heck, it's tough enough to get service for Deere and Massey around these parts!!! :rolleyes:

Bigger Brands?:wink: In a year or so, Mahindra will be #1 in worldwide sales. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar you can not beat a Mahindra. Of course I live within an hour drive of their headquarters and production department. Not to mention I write a blog on their website.
I had a old JD rotary cutter. I bought it with a well worn Ford 3055:cool:. The rotary cutter had a leaking seal when I bought it.:pat: I couldn't get parts for the gearbox, which was made in France.:( I would have to buy a new gearbox, which was made in France. But wait, it gets better.:rolleyes: The old hub would not fit the new gearbox, so I would have to buy a new hub also.:eek: Total cost.............over $700.:mad2: I never replaced that gearbox, just kept filling it with 90 weight. The JD salesman said he just fills his leaking batwing gearbox with grease. :thumb: Yes, JD is an old US favorite, but it is a worldwide business now, just like Mahindra.:letitsnow:

O.K. Just so everyone knows I am not at all bashing Mahindra, I just dont know anything about them. I hope to learn alot about them from you all so if I carry on about Deere, forgive me. I have Deere, CaseIH, New Holland, etc. all around up here not many Mahindras, well now that I think about it I do know someone with one, I forgot about him. Like I said about the Vultra, there is a 2000 w/1000hrs, loader, cab, 4X4 and its a 90 hp for $33,500. I think its a good buy.

No one gets easily offended around here. You have no worries on this site! While I own a Mahindra, I am also a big fan of the Kubota TLB's and the JD 110 TLB (even though my excellent friend and mentor Larry will now make me wash my mouth out with soap!). Fact is that my first choice in a TLB was a used JD 110 that got away. Right now I am scoping mini-excavators by Yanmar, Bobcat, Deere, IHI, Kobelco and others. Might even end up with a skidsteer if the mini-ex thing doesn't work out. I'm looking at ASV, Bobcat, CAT and Deere. Can't wait to get your thoughts in this regard since you are also in the business! :thumb:

Never had a skid steer or mini-ex. All I do is mow yards, till gardens, roll yards, and I have preped yards for seeding and have a box scraper for the 2520. I have some pictures of a slick set-up I will see if I can post them up. You will like them!! BTW, should I start a new Thread?

Yeah, I need to talk more to MahindraUSA to see if they will go into sponsoring tractor pulling. Gotta get them to go grass roots:rolleyes:. And merchandising.:wink: Also, I am a firm believer that a dealer can make you swear or praise any brand of tractor. You have to have good support no matter what color you have.:wink:
Wow, just went to Valtra's website..........they sponsor tractor pulling with Shell.:cool: Awesome. Never heard of them before Newt92:respect: mentioned them.

Start a new thread anytime you feel the motivation and have something interesting to ask or say! :thumb: This just happens to have evolved into a Super-Thread covering every topic under the sun! :D It is almost impossible to wander off-topic in a Super-Thread!!! :mrgreen:

In the case of my business, I am an old man with an engineering & construction background. While folks around me are making a ton of money with residential lawn care, it is something I have intentionally focused away from. It holds no interest for me beyond the money... kinda like the last job I had before getting laid-off. So you are starting with a big advantage over me since you obviously have a loyal/repeat client base and a reasonably steady income.

I view myself as a specialty contractor with a residential focus. My new business card and advertisments read: Residential Excavation and Grading. My interest lies in all sorts of one-off homeowner projects. This requires a lot more advertising and patience to land a job. On the plus side, I am blessed to have a really great tree guy and am close to securing new strategic relationships with a hydra-seeder and a lawn care company. My hope is to avoid all the mistakes of last year and make a sustainable success of the business this year. :cool:
