    Kubota 245DT

Just an update as I sort of fell of the map there for awhile. I was the guy who broke my favourite toy in half about this time last year. I had a subframe built that ties into the loader subframe and after putting about 30 hours on the hoe the tractor seems to be holding up well. Unfortunately...

    The Great Escape

We have arrived in Cairns and the monsoon season is full on. Amazingly diverse country. Kubota has a very small presence here and I have only noticed one dealership so far. John Deere seems to be the big boy. The farmers here have been hammered by the extreme weather and the devastation is...

    The Great Escape

This is a trip the boss and I have been planning for years. My nephew emigrated Down Under and now has a three year old boy. The first addition to the next generation of Pearce's. They live in Dubbo. My wife's brother lives in New Zealand, the next stop on our itinerary, so this definitely is a...

    The Great Escape

Hello fellow Kubota people; My little Kubota L245DT, after much effort, made it home in time for the snow removal phase of living in North Central BC. It started much better than I expected. It starts easily up to 10 below Celcius (approx. 20 F) I started her at about 20 below (0F) one day and...

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

The part is coming. The toughest part will be signing the cheque and hauling it into town. There are some switchbacks that are rather anal sphincter tightening. There is active logging right now so I am going to wait for the sand truck and then take a rather slow drive in to Smithers. Thanks for...

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

The excitement is over and the tractor is safely on it's trailer. I should have taken pictures. My rather excellent neighbour who owns a skid steer Bobcat was the brains of the operation. He also finished the work I was doing on my pole shed so I can complete my framing etc. The clutch casing or...

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

I played on the net last night and West kentucky has already replied to my e-mail. Sounds like a competent outfit. I am waiting a call back from a farm salvage outfit in Ontario Canada and will probably go that route as it will be quicker. Customs often slows things down considerably. Thanks for...

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

The part is discontinued. I am going to haul it into town and pay the price to have the tractor split. There is a very experienced welder who figures he can fix it. It was quite an experience getting it out of the clay bog. One of my friends who lives on the lake about 5 doors down has a Bobcat...

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

Yes I have an experienced friend who can help me. I will find out on Monday about parts. Hopefully I can get a new housing, the tractor is a 1982 so wish me luck.

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

It is the clutch bell housing which I cracked not the transmission housing.

    I broke my Tractor L245dt

I got stuck and was lifting my self out of the hole with the bucket and I torqued too hard.I was supporting the back end with the hoe bucket. To make a rather long and sad story short I broke the main transmission housing. I stopped everything before I seized up but the main housing is broken...

    Transmission oil leak

bcrocker that does make sense. Perhaps a sub frame setup would be the answer. There was already some goop on the area of the tranny where the leak is so I think it was a pre-existing problem. Also one of the studs is stripped and I think this is where most of the oil is leaking from. Possibly...

    Transmission oil leak

Well I drained the tranny and used a high heat gasket maker. It held up for about 30 minutes. I have not had any replies to this question, is it a common problem? For now I will just keep the oil level up.

    Transmission oil leak

L245dt oil is dripping from one of the gaskets on the transmission housing. I keep the oil level up and check the oil level by the oil plug level indicator on the side of the housing frequently. When I am running the hoe ie using the PTO hard it drips out pretty fast. I probably should not...

    Circulating block heaters.

This is my first winter with this machine so the magnetic block heater may do the trick. It is a 200 watt model. The timer is a good idea as I imagine it would suck the power when it is on.
