Hello all, I have a 2018 X1140 that I Purchased at Auction.

I took her out for a ride yesterday, after about 15 min of 15 MPH travel the temp went to full bars. Turned it off for 15 min and it was back at half. I replaced the Thermostat when I changed all the fluids. The Elec fan was on. The reservoir is where it should be. Belt is good and fan on Water pump spins freely. There is a slight squealing from the engine when you turn it on then it goes away. Could it be the Water pump? What is best to check? thank you

I don't know if they are the similar, I have a 2014 x900. The Operators Manual shows an "Engine Coolant Breather" located between the front of the bed and the drivers seat, attached to the ROPS. It's a valve on a hose to manually bleed the air out of the coolant system. If you did not bleed when you changed the Thermostst, the system could still have air in it causing it to run hot.

Good Luck.

I would also check to be sure radiator is clean. I know there were moved to front but worth a try. Do you see coolant moving when running?

Thank you , I used the breather when I drained all the coolant to re replace it. I do not see a procedure in the manual for removing air. do I just open it while it is running?

My interpretation from the manual is that the air bleeds out via the recovery tank as the engines is running. Then you top off the tank, if low. Can't tell what the "Breather" is for. Manual states open it while draining and close after refilling and before starting the engine.

A condensed version from my manual:

Fill until coolant is just below the radiator cap. Install cap securely.
Fill recovery tank up to the "Full" mark.
CLOSE THE ENGINE COOLANT BREATHER.
Start and run the engine for a few minutes, then stop engine and let cool.
Check coolant level of recovery tank and add coolant if necessary.

It specifically states to make sure breather is closed AFTER filling the coolant.

I have slept too many times since I did this, so I don't remember specifically what steps I took.

Hope this helps. Or maybe someone else may have a suggestion.
