    First mow of the season

Fired up the Husqvarna 42DXLS Sunday. Not to mow but blow the winter leaves into the woods after I picked up all the limb detritus. Pulled the choke, turned the key and away we went. Best starting, running gas engine I've owned is that 22 HP Kohler.

    Insulate cab for noise???

It's possible you may not be able to get it quiet enough if she is sensitive about sounds. I would consider just buying an industrial grade set of noise blocking ear phones. They also come with radios installed if she likes tunes. My 900 doesn't bother me when I drive it but my Husgvarna riding...

    snow blower

BIL and I did exactly that quite a number of years back. He lived in town and couldn't push his snow far enough to get the drive cleared so he found an old blower off a yard tractor and we added a Harbor Freight 5 hp gas engine. Took a bit of work to fab the mount and pulley drive but it worked...

    Tailgate Rattle

Between the great little diesel engine on my 900 and the headphones I wear when using it, it could sound like Don Henley on drums and I wouldn't notice.

    Helimod mirror ext./Kubota/curtis skid shoe.

That helps. I'll still contend that the problem is probably a broken weld, not wear. I've never worn any skids out on my Curtis/Kubota but have had a number of them break off. I plow about 1500 ft per snow but it's all concrete and blacktop. IAC, you solution should hold up better. All Good

    Helimod mirror ext./Kubota/curtis skid shoe.

In my experience with the Curtis skids, they don't wear out but break off at the weld. I ash canned them years ago and went to the Moose 5/8" replacement skids from Dennis Kirk. They are thicker bottoms and the shaft is threaded into the skid before welding. I haven't had one break off in a...

First Snow Plowing Experience With X900

With my 04 900, which is obviously broken in, even blipping the throttle won't let me smoothly change gears when I plow snow into a pile. I need to raise the blade a bit and then it shifts quite well usually. Even if it feels like it doesn't want to slip out gear easily then a foot on the brake...

Thank you. The cab has been a great addition for plowing in Michigan winters.

See if you can find a chunk of used conveyor belt, it'll work fine. I found one from a local stone works when I needed some for a different project.

RTV Daily uses, What did you do today with your RTV?

I really can't say as it's been on the blade since 2014 when it was installed on my 04 900. I leave it on because it has not been an issue with plowing over 10" of Michigan snow and, secondly, I plow my neighbors drive which is over 900 ft paved with a bit of "enthusiasm" and I don't want the...

    Bed Liner Advice

I'm not sure about Kubota, but I believe, that all domestic truck manufactures have their OEM bedliners done by third parties. Personally, I can't see any reason a third party installation properly done would be a cause for concern.

Luckily we don't have any weather that doesn't go with Bourbon in Michigan! (y)

First Snow & First Time With Plow

You made a great choice with the folding blade. In the "vee" position it will cut through the snow and then let you use the flat position to push it aside taking the swath size you can handle. The toughest part of plowing is getting the first pass moved. Wish I had a folding one but the flat...

    Newbie Considering X1140, Feedback Welcome

If you are going to use it in the winter (or even summer) get the wiper. I plow snow up here in Michigan and during the event the snow will stick to my windshield. Considering the cost of these things the wiper is a modest cost edition. Secondly, for a 5 mile run the difference between 25 and...

    X900 Rear View Depth Perception

This is how I did my 04 RTV900 with a cheap camera from Amazon. Still working after 5 years. Makes life a lot easier for this old guy. We had discussions about drilling the roll cage but clamps would work also.
