    Hyd.

I realize this is an old post, but I just came across it. Yes it does have a screen. It is in the botom of transmission case on right side under the step. Plug is about 2 inches across and you need a 1/2" breaker bar to loosen it. Try cleaning it and if that doesn't help, you might have a...

Injector pump leak 1830 tractor john deere

I think you have a Roosamaster pump? If so, there is an oring seal on each shaft. Just remove the allen headed screw and remove the lever. Use a pick to remove oring. Install new oring and reinstall lever in same position. Be sure to mark it somehow so it goes back in same spot.

John Deere 8440 trans no 1st or 2nd

I assume you have no 1st or 2nd no matter what range you are in. There are several things that can contribute to your problem. An accumulation of wear in several parts causes the problem. The drum and collar you mentioned are part of it. They get worn as well as the shifter fork and shift cam...

    fwd troubleshooting?

If the engagement lever seems to operate normally, you might want to check the front driveshaft. It is inside a shield and can be broken without any visible sign from the outside. Disconnect the shield from on end and slide it back. You should be able to grab the shaft and when you attempt to...

Now it is Christmas along with a JD4020 Question

I assume you are refering to the three white canisters on the right side of the engine. The two filters toward the front with one directly above the other are fuel filters. There were a couple of different fuel filter arrangements on the 4020. It depended on the serial number. The other one is...

    JD 870?

870's are great tractors. Yes they are built by Yanmar for John Deere. bczoom's suggestion to clamp the clutch pedal down is a good idea. Any clutch that sits for extended periods can stick and it seems that these tractors may bee more prone to it than some others. Also be sure to keep pedal...

    Oil pressure problem

Just out of curiosity. Did you change the filter again also? I once had a similar problem on a Ford car with a 302. I had installed a Lee or a Fram filter and had similar symptoms until I installed a Motorcraft filter. Problem was solved.

    6415 with wandering rpm

If fuel hoses are now ok and the electric transfer pump in the tank is putting out a good flow of fuel, I would suspect a bad injection pump. It sounds like the governor is out of kilter. You need to get your dealer to resolve this before the tractor gets any older. If you have documentation of...
