    2 wd / 4 wd lever frozen

OldMasterTech, Not sure what you've tried so far, but I would remove linkage from trans (lower left front), jack up front axle and try to move lever at trans. By jacking up you shouldn't have any torque on front drive shaft. This should tell you if problem is internal or in cable or pivots...

Rtv 1100 and 8 ft disk

I was thinking the same thing: That Chevelle's RTV might damage that disk! :drive2: :pat: Sorry Pepr, I couldn't help it! (Or is that what you meant too?)

    Battery light stays on.

There is one filter for trans (on side) but there is also a suction screen filter for trans that faces out the back. Be careful one of these filters only requires a little tightening. I'm not sure, but I think it is the suction filter. May have aluminum threads, I can't remember. My trans change...

RTV go anywhere ? Check out this vehicle !

I'm impressed! A true all season, all terrain rig. I think my wife needs one of those and I'll take care of it for her.

The RTV got the day off!

You are sure right about that Mark, the snow on my roof was really packed and a pain to get off. My right shoulder is screaming right now from working that pole. I'm in Grayling, not to far from you.

    Idling

Anything over 5 or 10 minutes, I shut it off and here's why. Don't worry there won't be a test later. Most diesels especially the older ones, didn't stay hot enough at idle for complete combustion partly due to overcooling. Without complete combustion they would start puffing smoke and could...

The RTV got the day off!

I plowed two driveways yesterday and pushed snow that I had pulled off the lower part of the roof with the RTV and thought I'd give it the day off.(Today I really needed some down pressure) It was a lot warmer today (hence the open garage) and the snow I took off up higher on the roof was like...

Kubota missed the mark with RTV

Sorry you are not happy with your rig. I was a little disappointed when I got mine 1 1/2 years ago, mainly with it struggling in deep sand. But the RTV is more of a little HD truck than a UTV. Much more heavy duty and work oriented. The Rangers seem to "float" more over sand and mud. They are...

Question for those who plow with RTV

You are sure right about the conventional hydro trans over the RTV's trans. I'd say the RTV biggest downfall is the awkward (at times) shifting. After plowing into a pile, I use the dash cable quite often to relieve pressure on the trans before shifting into reverse. It helps a lot although...

RTV-900 Best overall tire for snow plowing

I have the standard worksite tires, they have "350 MAG OFF ROAD"on them. I plowed a little last year and was not impressed and figured I'd have to get chains. This year I dropped the tire inflation from 20 to 14 psi, and can't believe the improvement in traction. I've plowed quite a bit and have...

    Tire Chains--Diamond or standard

No, I haven't bought any yet. What I have done is dropped the tire pressures down from 20 psi. to 14 psi in all four tires. It has made a huge improvement. I plowed 5 or 6 inches the other day for a neighbor and myself and didn't need 4wd at all. Running about the same ballast weight as last...

Super K is puking oil! Help!

Impact wrench? -or- If you could get to the ring gear on the flywheel, you could hold it with a bar. Even if you had to pull the starter, it would allow you to keep flywheel stationary. Hope this helps!

    Tire Chains--Diamond or standard

Thanks for the input folks! I'm going to go with the diamond type and just the rear for now. I've read other comments about plowing in 2WD, so as much as I hate to say it, LET IT SNOW! Thanks again!

    Tire Chains--Diamond or standard

I can't seem to find regular chains without the v-bars or studs for ATV's. The only regular twisted chains I found were for garden tractors and I didn't think they would handle the torque of the RTV.

    Tire Chains--Diamond or standard

Last winter was the 1st for my rtv900 with worksite tires, and even with weight in the back I could have used more traction at times. I'm going to be plowing for a friend a half mile down the road this winter and want to get a set of chains for it. I won't be on any pavement. (I ripped some...

    Flywheel Timing Marks

The purpose of setting up on timing marks when adjusting valves is to make as few rotations as possible. Sometimes its more of a headache to do it that way. When an intake valve on one cylinder is open (pushed down) the exhaust valve for that cylinder is fully closed (or on the base circle of...

    RTV900 Injection problem

You mentioned some water got into system, how much water? Water could have damaged injection pump. (water has no lubricating value to the close tolerance parts) bczoom mentioned sucking air into fuel system, you can take the return line off stick in in a bowl with fuel in it and watch for...

    RTV1100 ruff running

If the buggy runs then the air induced from servicing should purge itself out. If you replaced any line sections, keep in mind that the line has to match the fitting size it's going on to. (No matter how tight you clamp it, if its mismatched it can suck air.) Diesels at idle require a lot less...

Shifting greatly improved! Why didn't I think of that?

I was at my Kubota dealer recently to pick up trans oil and a filter kit.(my rig has 166 hrs. on it) The guy at the counter was very helpful and I was picking his brain about a few things. I just bought my 900 last fall (yeah, another newbie)and have been having issues with shifting especially...

    Spark Arrestor and new member

Thanks for the info about not just cutting it off. I can see how easy that would be to do. I found the pictures of Moosejaw's fabbed arrestor. Very nice job!
