I was going to suggest chopping the housing open to fix it. Then glue the parts together and use heat shrink tubing to keep it secure.

Harbor Freight has the small right angle magnets for .99 each right now. I picked up several of them today... along with two sets of halogen work lights for the rig. They are only 14 bucks there.
