    Getting water out of transmission

I think this would be a good point at which to point out that with ANY hydraulic system NEVER use a solvent for flushing while the pump is turning. Flush only with the correct fluid for the system. Flushing with solvent may sound like a good idea, but it will offer no lubrication for moving...

    Getting water out of transmission

When I got out of the Army in '71 my younger brother and my Dad had gotten into riding trail bikes. I started doing a lot of trail riding with them and their buddies. My Dad and Brother loved to go slopping through the muddy creek bottoms and such. Quite a few times, they or their buddies...

    Calving time is here again

I never had any trouble with losing calves in the Winter, but I always had them on the ground before Thanksgiving. I have several loafing sheds for protection from the North wind and from precipitation. They are arranged with no West wall so they can get as much Sunlight as possible to kill...

    Correct Mower Blades?

I'm not familiar with your particular mower, but have a Cub Cadet with a bagger that I still sometimes use. I never could really tell much difference between the standard and bagger blades. Hope this helps.

    Calving time is here again

Most folks in this part of the country do Spring or early Winter calving. I've never been a proponent of that myself. When I had cattle, I planned so that calves hit the ground in the fall. It gave me a much better yearling to take to the sale come the following Fall. That's a nice looking...

    What brand do you own?

I just now entered my tractors on this antique poll. Results are interesting and a sign of the times.

    Road Runner

We have Road Runners around our place and in this area, although it's been awhile since I saw one. For those who have never seen them in the flesh, they run like you wouldn't believe. It's easy to see where the animators got their idea from.

    Hello from NE Texas

Yeah, I know Mineola. I used to do projects in Tyler, and rolled through quite often. Also, although I've never been to her place, a cousin of mine retired from Arlington to Mineola about a year ago.

    Wifes New Garden Spot

No, there was never any hay fed in that part of the pen. I used the pen when I was working 'em and ran them from there into a small pen that had access to a feeder in the end of the barn and access to the chute, so even when I had a sick animal or some such, they were fed in the end of the...

    Wifes New Garden Spot

My wife has been wanting me to clear out an old cattle working pen for her new garden spot. Just can't keep up with everything and let the trees grow up around it when I changed my pens around. I've got most of it cleared and mowed. I'm about to drag all the coastal off of it and get ready to...

    Back from the Dead

The Last Ride Gonna saddle her up for one last ride. I have her for sale with an ad placed locally this week. I'm starting to get a few calls and it looks like she'll sell. Unless weather keeps me from it, I'm going to put my old shredder on her and shred a little one acre or so unused pen...

    2040 hydraulic problems

Not intimately familiar with this particular tractor. Does it have a flow control valve for the 3 point hitch?

    Hello from NE Texas

I've been posting here a month or two, but answered the call for donations yesterday, so I guess I now feel official enough to post an introduction. I live in North East Texas very close to the Red River. I've lived in Texas all my life except for 10 weeks at Fort Polk, Louisiana and a little...

Did you make a cup holder for your tractor, RTV, ATV or off road vehicle?

You guys are WAY out of my league. If it doesn't involve baling wire or chewing gum, I can't build it or fix it.

    M-9000, extra "ping" from engine.

With engine idling, crack open the lines at the injectors just enough to dribble fuel and cancel fuel pressure, one cylinder at a time. Listen for a change in the sound. If the sound goes away when cracking an injector line, then that cylinder should be the culprit. If you do find an...

    Wench for Christmas??????

Yep, but I also wouldn't feel comfortable asking my wife to buy me a "wench" for Christmas. Sounds like the shortcut to divorce court.

    Power Steering

Sometimes hydraulic pumps will just get noisy. You are doing the right thing checking the fluid. As long as it has fluid and works okay, not to worry.

    5610 ford

If you install a turbo and do nothing about the amount of fuel delivered, it will do nothing. Unlike a gas engine, the power generated by a diesel is determined STRICTLY by the amount of fuel injected. When more fuel IS injected, more air is needed to prevent engine damage. The turbo flow and...

    RPMS

Actually, the torque peak RPM of any engine is it's most efficient engine speed. That said, you have to find a gear that makes the most of that engine speed. If you are not working it hard, and just moving the machine somewhere, then a higher gear and lower RPM is okay. When under load the...
