    Turkey Cookin >>>

That was interesting. I love to cook outside. I just got through smoking a 120# of pork for a lunch that my wife is giving soon. It's for some board that she serves on with about 120 guests invited. We have family supper at Christmas at out house with anything from 20 to 50 family members...

    Wifes New Garden Spot

Man, isn't that the darned truth. Those ol' timers knew a thing or two. Oh, by the way, you should try dealing with TxDOT. That's not an experience that I'd recommend to anyone. Five years later and we're still fighting with them. I joke that they closed down their local office just to...

    Blade on weed eater

I never thought of using an old table saw blade. I have used a Beaver blade on brush which is basically a chain saw chain mounted on a solid blade. It worked great on brush and small trees but you had to be careful not to pinch it. I did use it on tall grass and it worked OK as I recall but...

    Hello from NE Texas

A belated welcome. Another Texan isn't out of place anywhere. I'm a ways south of you but not too far in Texas terms. I live outside a little town called Mineola. Been here for 13 years after spending about 13 years in Dallas. My wife's family have been here for ever and they are...

    Prayers for Rosetta, PLEASE!!

I haven't checked this thread for a while but that doesn't mean that you have been out of my thoughts, believe me. Larry, I'm glad that everything is working out well for you and your family. You know that God tends to look out for good people so you'll be OK.

    Wifes New Garden Spot

Good luck to you friend. :respect: Is the coastal in the pen growing or the remains of hay from feeding the cows in there? If it's growing, spray it with round-up and till it in. If it's hay, still till it in. It'll be good for her garden, apart from any seeds that is. You may have to till...

    Rain

Cool picture. 8/10ths wouldn't be bad if we could get it once a week. We did get about 3" just over a week ago but ever since it's been glorious 80 to 85 degree fall weather. I can stand all of this that the good Lord wants to send me.

    First off, Thanks.

Yup, that's one of the good things about this forum. It's not too big but there's enough people on here with a lot of experience. No matter what you want to do you never have to rediscover the wheel unless of course you want to. Whatever you're thinking of attempting, there's always somebody...

    RPMS

When I'm chugging around from one place to another I usually set the throttle by the sound of the engine. If I look down it's usually around 1800 to 2000 rpm. Redneck, in 20+ years of tractor driving I have never thought of mowing at less than 540 rpm. Strange how you get set in your ways...

    stump grinda

Now that was interesting. We know how it looks but how does it work? It's not something that I would use a lot but I've got 2 stumps right now that could use a little attention.

    just wondering

My question is somewhat different, why are you cutting your yard with a bush hog or were you cutting the pasture with a riding mower? Grizz, there's a little lever, usually on the right hand side, that will raise and lower the bush hog. Find a height that you like and have at it. Best of luck.

Want some water with that fuel?

Now that's a good idea. I may have to steal that one. I'm not proud. :yum:

    throwing bushhog

I tried the heavy duty rubber method. It may have been the way I rigged it up but it didn't last a season before it was all torn up. It did work well though while it lasted.

    throwing bushhog

Yup, that's basically it. It's a length of metal rod running the width of the mower with about 3 links of chain dangling from it. The top link can be tack welded to the rod or it can have spacers between each length of chain. It doesn't necessarily stop things being thrown but it does slow...

How many hours on your Kubota?

Well, that's good to know. I plan on living until I'm at least 150-years old and it'll be some consolation to know that my "babies" will still be with me.

    DK40se Saves Me Grief

Good job. That 4-wheel drive is nice to have in those situations, isn't it. About 2-years ago my S-I-L did almost exactly the same thing. In her case, when the lake was down really low, she thought she'd go after 2 logs that were partially blocking the spillway. She got about 20 feet out on...

    New GC-2400

Welcome and congrats on your new tractor. I don't know much about the Massey but it if it's like my 24hp Kubota, it's a nice, versatile size of tractor. It's not too big for the yard and it's not totally overwhelmed in the pasture. For the small acreage land owner I always thought that it was...
