Can you "safely" just disengage 4WD using the 2WD/4WD controls? What about your issue with 2WD in reverse? Think it's related? If you keep it out of 4WD, are you still at risk with the reverse issue?

I've had this situation several times on my tractor. EVERY time, it was bad battery cables. They rot on the inside and the damage isn't visible. If the way you jumped it (I'm assuming from the battery to the starter or using a jumper box on the starter itself also leads me to believe it's bad...

Are you talking directly with the service department? If so, I'd redirect your efforts and conversations with the sales department/manager and let them know of your displeasure. Advise them that if this is how you're treated based on your purchase history with them that you'll be done doing...
