    RTV X900G-A Bogs Down Badly

Ok thanks. Your engine shouldn't bog down or die. So as others have said it would be good to start simple. Pull out the spark arrestor from the end of the tailpipe if it had one or if it is the other kind you remove the plug on the bottom of the muffler and gently tap with a rubber mallet...

    RTV X900G-A Bogs Down Badly

The power train is a diesel engine that drives a hydrostat than in turn drives a gear transmission. What bogs down? Does the engine loose rpm? When this happens does it smoke? Are you on an incline and how is it loaded

    X1100C Engine RPM

Sorry i don't have any current sources. The availability and prices of these have improved greatly over the years. My tool is manufactured by OTC for caterpillar but it is a service tool that has photo a magnetic and the pulse clamp. It isn't something you dash mount like on a tractor. I...

    New '25 rtvx

Let it break in real good and most of the stiff shifting gets better. Note that i think the 2025 models are not straight cut gears anymore.

    X1100C Engine RPM

I use a tach made for caterpillar by otc that has an injector line pickup on it but just for service. A photo tach works pretty good also as do those little laser type.

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

Change the hst oil once a year or every 250 hours whichever occurs first. Use only sudt oil. There are commercial units out there with many tens of thousands of hours on them that haven't been touched except for maintenance. Then there is the low hour machine that has the same oil waiting...

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

With 26 inch tires at 20 psi the extra diameter increases the ratio so i get 31 mph on good hard flat road. It will carry 28 on a grade. Speed checked with gps

    X1100C Engine RPM

Rated rpm is 3400. Set it at 3600 rpm for best performance. The hst is rated for 3800 rpm.

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

Just remember that the throw on a push pull cable is fixed. You adjust by loosing the u clamp on the end and then moving the whole cable on each end. The clevis is just for fine tuning

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

An interesting note. The old models before the X series the hst speed lever had reverse capabilities that went unused. Some made a rocker peddle for the floor so they had forward reverse in all gears just like the tractors. Not possible in the X

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

With the bell crank in its detent your push pull cable should be at it's maximum holding the pedal up. The peddle must not bind the push pull cable preventing this.

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

Thank you. Your info and description is excellent. Your machine is creeping because the controls are out of adjustment holding the speed control lever in engagement with the servo i think. Test this by disconnect the hst speed rod with the lever in it's slowest or stopped position then start...

Speed control and hard shift adjustments

The method i use came right out of the rtv x1100c factory service manual. The only adjustment to the servo is to center it so that the swash plate rest in neutral or in the old machines centered. If your machine creeps then the servo needs adjusted if it doesn't creep thennleave it alone. In...

How long did your RTV-X Battery Last?

John deere and caterpillar batteries are excellent long lasting batteries with great warranty. I have had similar results with napa premium batteries.

    RTV 1100 Diesel runs hot.

The rtv 1100 doesn't have a fan mounted on the water pump pully like the x1100c. The fan on the left side behind the cab must turn on and off in order to regulate the temp. Is your electric fan turning on and off? Also if the fan motor isn't up to snuff it can't move enough air. Have you blown...

X series straight shifter upgrade kit

Sticky shifting really isn't because of pressure in the hst. It is more because of gear lash friction that can be caused by the machine rolling up against the static hst or from the hst creeping into the gears tightening the lash between the gears. The rtv up until recently used straight cut...

So what’s the deal with the RTV recall?

I have had a few recall on my x1100c. There was some suspension issues at first and then the fire flap and lastly the floor mat. My dealer sent a man out for two of those and the other was done before i purchased. So recalls haven't been to bad for me. But my gripe is that it seems that these...
