New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

How screwed am I? Anyone know where you can buy used Kubota RTV 900 parts like a rear axle housing? Messick's wants $475 for a new one, I didn't bother asking how much shipping was.

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

You mean one like this? If so, I got the idea from this thread, and apparently your previous post! This one pulled the outer bearing out like it was pooping it through a goose! :beer-fresh: Oh, by the way: there was zero, nada, zip, none, no evidence that the Bearing Hub Collar (item...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

All the u-joints have grease zerks, they just don't show up in the pics above. I greased them all up and the joints are solid; I see no need to replace them.

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

And perhaps the bigger issue: do I still have part of the inner bearing in the housing or is the housing boogered up at the inner raceway? The inner bearing came out in pieces and chunks. I can't tell if what I'm seeing is part of the outer raceway to the bearing or the boogered up inner...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

OK got it apart, wasn't too hard at all. Pics of the outer right driveshaft, this is the side that grenaded the inner bearing (more about that later). Please review these pics and let me know if you think can be reused or am I looking at a new driveshaft (at $165 at Messick's). Thanks,

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

I thought it was a 2005, but Messick's says it's a 2006 per the serial number. About 1800 hours IRC (don't hold me to that).

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

I removed the axle nut split pin before taking the pics. Also, based on one of the threads here a while ago, I tightened the axle nut to 140 ft-lbs. As someone said above, I believe I'm dealing with an inner bearing issue, hence the reason the out axle is so loose. I heard the bearing go...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

I'm still having trouble understanding how the outer axle shafts stay in place *or* how they come out of the inner axle housing. I looked at that superATV.pdf posted above. They hang the axle housing instead of taking it off. That sounds good since I really don't want to be working on this...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

Seals and bearings are already in the cart at Messick's, I'm just waiting to call them in the morning and make sure they will fit my model RTV 900. I also plan to check the outer axle end to make sure it's not buggered up, but I think it's the inner bearing that bit the dust; I heard it go out...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

Maybe this has been covered before, if so, just post the post number or whatever, but: What holds the inner and outer axle shafts together? I have the Messick's detailed rear axle figure in front of me(D30100 Rear Axle) and for the life of me, I don't see any mechanism that keeps the outer...

New Rear U Joints Needed-- Again

Well, it looks like it's my time in the bucket for my rear axle shafts!!! Pics are below, one which is the way it *should* look and two pics showing how loose the right rear outer axle shaft is currently. Is this what happened to you guys? I can tell that someone has already replaced...

Rear Vibrations after a u joint change

Good diagram. And it's funny you posted a swuare drive shaft - I made one for my Toyota rock crawler years ago, and yes I made sure they were in phase. So I got the phase part down. What I still don't understand is why people are marking the driveshafts - is it because one part is not visible...

Rear Vibrations after a u joint change

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but what are we supposed to be lining up? I've got a loose rear axle shaft, so it looks like I'll be doing this job soon. Additionally, where are you guys getting your parts? Thanks,

    Big Sky Gun Rack Installation

I've got a rifle rack mounted on both my Kubota L4330 and my RTV 900, but alas no pics of the RTV mount, tomorrow maybe! Here's pics of the L4330 rifle rack:

    Happy Passover and Easter

Didn't know it was Easter until someone reminded me, the joys (or downside) to being retired! Happy Easter!!!!!

    Trans oil milky

Milky = Water Contamination. WC = Total flush with filter replacement. Just went through this with a new to me RTV 900. Someone put water in the power steering tank that is right next to the radiator overfill tank. I flushed the PS tank about 7 times with ATF, then refilled about halfway...
