Did you find a resolution yet? Just a heads-up, in my experience, the fuel gauge on the older models are prone to failure. I'd guess I'm on my 3rd one and it too is dead. I'd focus on the headlights/taillights. If the fuel gauge does come back on, all the better but the gauge may just be dead...

Have you checked your hyd fluid level lately? My JD acts like this when the fluid level is low (or it's cold).

Can you just make one using fuel line?

Sorry about your situation. :) I agree 100% that they're screwing us. I'll never buy a John Deere again because of the same thing you're going through. Apparently, other mfgr's think the JD model works. Yea, not for me and I'll never buy from those that can't let me work on my tractor ever again.

Welcome to the forum. Do you have any boat marina's around you? Many have a "canvas guy" that drives around and makes custom (exact to fit) covers for boats. A friend of mine does this and he said it would be no problem making a custom cover for most anything. Canvas covered with aluminum frame.

Battery is good? This has happened to me a few times. On all occasions, it was the battery cables. They corrode internally (so you can't see it) but they can carry enough volts to give you lights but no amps to start the tractor.

Do you have any boat shops/marinas around you? There's companies that come around driving a truck/trailer to boat places that make various types of boat covers. If you could hook up with one of those companies, I'm sure they could make something for you (with windows, zipper-up doors...).

Weren't they made somewhere in a former USSR country? Are they still in business? Can you get parts?
