    Diesel Fuel Transfer Tanks

Ok, who all has one and what manufacturers should I stay away from? I am leaning towards an aluminum tank with capacity between 90 gallons and 110 gallons. For you steel tank owners, what kind of issues do you have with rust forming inside of your tank? I have already ruled out the big box...

Still kicking the tires on a mini track loader

Nice looking rig! I see the belting attached all down the side. Today, I pulled the trigger on the debris kits and got a nice price sticker shock from the dealer. $7k. That includes these 4 kits: KIT, DEBRIS .......................................... This kit provides additional components...

Still kicking the tires on a mini track loader

It doesn't have it on it now, but that was part of the deal when I bought it. The dealership is going to install the forestry kit. It already has the Lexan door and lexan windows. I don't know if it has a seat warmer or not on it. It does have the adjustable air suspension seat on it. It...

Still kicking the tires on a mini track loader

Welp, I finally went and done it. Went down to my semi-local CAT dealership and looked at a 2021 Cat 289D3XPS with 900 hours on it. Damn thing looked so good and ran so fine, I just had to buy it. Pulled the trigger on a new brush cutter, too. Placing the order for it this morning...

    Here's a "Talk About Anything" - II

Yeah, the hotwire is only half of the circuit. I see so many shade tree mechanics trying to test a vehicles electrical system with a test light. They see the light up when they find a hot wire and think the complete circuit to the device is good. When I am working on vehicle electrics, I put...

I hate buying John Deere parts, as they are so damn expensive. One thing I won't skimp on buying is buying John Deere agricultural batteries. Who ever makes Deeres batteries for them does it damn right. Most of my diesel equipment is John Deere. I replace they batteries on them about once...

Over charging the battery is effectively boiling it. Over charging a battery will make it go bad.

Sounds like a bad voltage regulator to me. If it is a 12VDC system and it is charging @ over 16VDC, in my experience in the past, it was always the voltage regulator. Running over 16VDC has a tendency to melt headlight bulbs and tailight bulbs over a period of time.

I am south of you a few hundred miles. Last weekend, we got 7 inches of snow. It hung around all this past week and was finally melted by the 1.5" of rain we got Saturday. Woke up yesterday morning to an inch of fresh snow. Woke up this morning and it was 5F. It never got out of the teens...

So what’s the deal with the RTV recall?

This is where you check for official recalls if you are in the states. If you can't find it there, then I would be right there, standing and watching the "tech". My local dealer won't come out and do anything at my farm. They make you bring it into their shop and they will get around to...

X series straight shifter upgrade kit

Interesting. I didn't think I was getting any creep, but maybe I need to put the back end up on jack stands and check it while it is idling. I guess it is possible I am getting a bit of creep that takes any backlash out of the gears and leaves them loaded. That kind of makes sense. It is...

X series straight shifter upgrade kit

No, if I back up a hill, no matter how hard I press on the brake pedal, it will not get a release. I can't get it into neutral. I can shut the engine off and then it will slide right into neutral with no issues. We have some fairly steep hills here and most of the time, when I am backing up...

The whatchamacallit on my dohicky is frozen ... (aka PTO shaft)

The plastic PTO guard on my Deere MX- 8' bush hog broke about 3 month after I got it. With modern tractors, you really don't need it. It is one of those over thought safety devices. If you get off your tractor seat while the PTO is engaged, the tractor dies. Nobody should be within a couple...

The whatchamacallit on my dohicky is frozen ... (aka PTO shaft)

I know this response is a few years late, but I keep the inside of my sliding PTO shafts coated in Never Seize. Oil and grease can dry up. Never seize just kind of sticks around and prevents the shafts from getting stuck to each other. I apply a new coat, usually in the spring every year. A...

Cover missing on cabin air filter

Nah. I have a 2023 rtv model. Air filter tab that holds the cover in place snapped off not too long after I got it. I have tried crazy gluing the tab back on, but it didn't hold. So, I have been running mine without the cover. I don't think the cover does very much, except hold the filter...
