I am toying with the idea of bypassing the oil cooler located at the filter by running a new hose from the block to the tee on the coolant line then capping off the two ports on the filter cooler. I don’t see a downside to this, versus the leak getting worse or leaking coolant into the oil...

when you say it dies when you hit the hill, does the engine die and loose power or does the engine keep the revs up but no power to the wheels they the HST/Tranny?

3 of 4 leaks seam to be fixed, I was able to tighten the return hose on the steering by partly dismantling the dash, it did cost me a 8mm wrench which slipped and feel into the frame rail and I could not retriver it. And the two coolant leaks did not return today after tightening up yesterday...

So is there a trick to getting the dash up? Everything is disconnected but it still seams something is hanging up around the steering wheel area. Can see or feel anything and don’t want to yank and break anything.

Diesel starts to gel at 40 degrees F, how old is the fuel? Do you use an anti gel agent in cold weather, do you or can you buy Arctic diesel or regular, if you filled up in fall before fuel suppliers changed to winter fuel you could just have some sluggish fuel in your system.

I have only seen that once before on a highly modified Jeep the shock piston worked itself loose from its eye, we figured the extreme angles and articulation plus vibration was the cause. we reassembled the unit it some blue loc-tite and it lasted years with no issue. Probably still in one piece...

I need to get to the hoses going to the steering column on my X1120, other than removing the entire dash is there a better way? I really, really don’t want to remove the entire dash to tighten up 1 hose clamp. :pat:

Ok! An update. Found four leaks. First one the coolant hose above the engine oil filter was weeping coolant thru the fibre reinforcing between the layers of rubber. Never seen a hose leak like this before, doubled up on the hose clamp and tightened all other clamps. If it continues then I will...

I had a very similar situation with my x1120, metal shavings on the drain plug both filters clogged, wont move either direction. Since I didn't have time to fix my self I sent it to the dealer, well $9K later I wished I had just parted it out. At this point I'm hoping for an insurable fire ? :oops:

Well I have 4 leaks, dealer will only consider looking at the HST leak, I'm on my own for the others. leak 1, coolant leak around the water pump area, I will know more once I get my scope around it on the weekend, fingers crossed its a loose hose, could be coolant coming from the weeping hole...

I have cheap $25 Amazon universal ones that clamp to the roll bar, once they are in place they stay there, unless you hit a tree then they fall off ;)
