05 RTV 900 front differential problems???

2005 900 diesel. 4x4 doesn't work

I have power out of the transfer case and into the front differential. But I dont have any power out of the front differential. The diff doesn't make any bad noises. I just don't have any power out of the diff. Any ideas?

Time to get out the wrenches.

Seems odd though.

I would be tempted to put it up on jack stands at all four corners and get underneath and turn the drive shaft with pliers just to be sure.

Have someone hold the brakes on and have the 4wd lever in 2wd drive.

If you are right the shaft should still turn using pliers or your hands to rotate.

Which would mean the diff is broke.

While on jack stands and in 4wd the front driveshaft spins fine. But there is no power coming out of the diff. When the driveshaft spins the tires don't. I figured that the diff is broke but I didn't know if there is a shear pin or something that is known to break on these RTVs

I would also check the fluid in it and see what it looks like. If you take off the shaft , can you turn the spindled shaft coming out of the diff ? or are the splines on either one good? collie

Love pictures. Not much in there. Weakest link looks like gears 1,2.4 or that small shaft that connects 2,4. Guessing, just guessing.
