I have not had any luck finding a complete wiring schematic for this unit, (diesel) specifically would like to know labels of each relay on the back of the seat. believe its the second one from the left is the starter relay. Its having random, as in very random starting issues. Iam thinking now it might be the neutral switch that has maybe been bypassed, or is failing. It might start 20 times or more, than all of a sudden...click,click, click from the starter. (starter has been replaced.) Noticed today though that it will start up in gear, sooooo Iam at a loss at this point because the issue is like I said, very random. Battery is 6 months old, and checks fine, alt putting out 14.6.
 
If I understand your post correctly??? You hear a click at the starter each time you turn the key to start position?? Just one click??? If that is the case then the contacts in your starter solenoid are worn and need replaced. No need to replace the starter just get a heavy duty set of contacts for your solenoid.

Re read the post please. starter has been replaced. still same issue.
 
I used to have a 2006 RTV900. The neutral switch was persnickety on it. Most of the time it would start but when it didn't I would get nothing. No click. To start I would move the gear shift to the right most side and then it would start. I sold it before digging further into the issue. But moving the gear shift seemed to bypass the issue.
What do you do when your's clicks? Walk away and try later or did you find a way to get it to start?
 
If the starter is clicking it is energizing so then the neutral safety is either ok or bypassing. The purpose of the neutral safety is to not allow the starter to energize. The clicking at the starter is the sound of the solenoid closing the contacts and throwing the bendix into the ring gear on the flywheel. There may not be battery amps at the solenoid or the contacts in the solenoid are either burnt or the throw of the bendix isn't allowing the contacts to close. The problem is at the starter if indeed the starter is clicking?

Since this problem persists with both starters then I would check the ground to frame and the positive cable from batt to starter. I would load test the batt or just exchange it with another and re test. It could be you have correct voltage at the starter but not enough amps to turn the motor at times. The negative cable to ground at frame could be corroded or broken wires internally. The ground cable from frame to engine could be corroded or broken. You can use your jumper cables to temp ground from negative to the starter frame to see. You can also use your jumper cables to jump the positive post direct to starter.
 
Thanks Doc, and Aurthuritis. Today I unhooked the neutral safety switch, at the switch and verified it would do nothing. Plugged it backed up and went ahead and cleaned the grounds as suggested and so far it has had no more issues. I have shut it off and restarted it several times, drove it and got it hot and again no issues. it has started fine every time. Hopefully this is the end of it. I will report back if it has not fixed it. I am going to def hold on to this old starter, original kubota starter is not cheap. Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it.
 
Yes the nipendenso starter is bullet proof definitely keep the original. Get a set of heavy thicker contacts from Larry B and rebuild the solenoid on your spare starter.
