2007 RTV900 Front Axle Noise

Greeting All!
Had a squeaking/scraping metal like noise develop on the 900. Sounded like it was coming from the front drivers side and only when in 4 wheel drive. Got under and took a look - had a ripped outter CV boot (drivers side) and lots of crud on the axle. Some shearing on the metal inside joint was seen. Replaced both CV axle shafts (American CV product). The noise is still there despite the fix and still only when in 4 wheel drive. Sounds worse when I make a very tight left turn. I'm sure the CV axle needed replacing - it was original (~2500 hrs on 900) and looked pretty bad, but still confused on the source of the noise. Any others seen or heard something similiar? Welcome all thoughts and suggestions.

I would change it and the knuckle cases too. A long and skinny funnel, or maybe with a piece of tubing makes it easier to get at ( on the differential .)

Agree with changing the oil - made sure I did that for both knuckle cases and transmission to levels suggested in manual. I did use the UDT-2 oil.

Starting to think it is thr carrier bearing on the front axle - noise only shows up in 4WD independent of turning. When I put it in 4WD from a stop and go forward I hear a thump and squesling noise. Need to get under there to check out if I have the older 2 piece drive shaft.

Collie - I saw you replaced this on our old RTV900 - any repair comments/suggestions you can share?

I replaced the carrier bearing that was located sorta under the driver's seat. Best I remember, it was an easy job. I also had to replace the front drive shaft during ownership. While it's loose, it might be a good time to check out the shaft ujoints, I couldn't find replacement u joints at that time for it so had to buy a new shaft. I forgot how exactly I did it but also put a piece of rubber hose /washer on the shaft near the diff, making sure not to put pressure on the seal . There's a post on here about that but it was many years ago.
