A stick in the wrong place.

I have been cutting wood the last several days and as i was calling it a day i drove out to a place that i raise the bed to dump the trash out then headed to the shop to park and the engine would not shut off so i raised the bed to take a look and there was a small stick of wood over on the right side that had got on top of the engine and bent up the shut off solenoid mount. Inches away is the engine fan and heater hose mounts all kinds of fuel lines and so on so i really got out of this mess with only a bent bracket which i took my time and got it working again so i feel lucky but i will pay even closer attention. My dealer is close by so i went to look at the new one he had there to make sure everything i did was kosher, a new shut off is $139.00 so i took my time.

..... the force was with you !!!

Some of the crazyest things can happen when we least expect it. And some of the littlest things that happen can end up costing us mega bucks.

Happy you got it going without hitting the pocket book ...

Good call Whatscookin. I am considering putting a thin sheet of metal under my fuel tank. I've had sticks kick up more that once and get hung in that area. Years ago someone on here had a fence post puncture their tank - costs $$. I'm glad it stayed out of your radiator- I'd hate to see what those cost. bordercollie

Things happen F ew years back I was out cutting wood and on the way back to dump the load The engine over heated so I limped it back and did some looking A stick wiggled and weeded its way through all of the steel parts and punctured the coolent line.
Bota wanted 65 bucks for a damn coolent hose so I went to the Auto parts store and picked one up for 5 buchs and replaced the damaged one.
The only difference was Bots had a bend right in theirs and the one I bought I had to make the bend in it.

While cutting wood I backed over a stick and took out my fan belt. A trip to NAPA got it going for a few bucks.

I believe the stick was between the cab and bed and when i raised the bed it fell on top of the engine, it was a small stick but it could of been a disaster.:14_6_12:
