Another oil service

Changed the oil in the hst on the x1100c today. The suction filter costs over 50 dollars now. I think thats just a little overpriced for that filter. But hst rebuild isn't cheap either.

Everything is overpriced now. And as for the oil, that's why I don't understand all these people on the forums you see all the time that ignore the first break in oil change because they say the oil doesn't go bad in 50 hours.
I drain all my machines in clear drain pans and the oil sure doesn't look new, LOL

In my experience, all diesel engine oils "look" dirty after just a few hours.
Yes, but I was talking about the hydrostat and hydraulic oils. People tend to ignore those.

Another is the final drive oils in excavators. People will blow a $2500 final drive instead of replacing one or two pints of oil, LOL

Yep the oil i was referring to was super udt 2 in the hydrostat and not the gearcase. I saw an rtvx with 14000 hours on it the other day. And then i hear that the hst is out after only 150 hours but it's 5 years old. Go figure?

I just keep gritting my teeth when buying Kubota fluid and filters. But the alternative is potentially much worse. I do trying to buy a few at a time to stay ahead of increases.

I have been buying filters by the case in order to save a little in price and beat inflation. My stash ran low on the hst filter so i ordered a new one and found that ktc has superceded the part number. I had some filters in the old line develop leaks also. After this most recent change i notice my speed has increased which could be attributed to better flow? But i changed tires during the service also so it could be because of the tire change also???

I wonder if a bad batch of HST filters is the reason for my problem with throttle coming in way before movement? That would sure make more sense than dealer intentionally misadjusting the go rod at the 200 hour service.

I don't think the filter would have any effect on throttle delay. Probably they don't understand how to adjust properly. There aren't any shortcuts.
