It was an easy job!! I replaced both sides at a cost of about $34.00 per side. I first noticed a problem when I jacked up the front after hearing some clattering and noticed a good bit of slack in the right ball joint. I had to use a pair of vicegripsin order to hold the "bolt"so I could remove the slotted nut because otherwise,it just turned and grated on that side. The other joint was noproblem. I will try myhand at posting pictures maybe tomorrow as my 3 weeks of 12-15 hr days are about back to normal. I will be putting in some Pex water lines tomorrow and doing general farm stuff. We did the yearly ritual of selling commercialAngus calves to the order buyer and selling some of the excess Reg.herdsince feed prices have went up3 times last yrs price. We have also been preping for a concrete driveway. Lot of stuff going on.I also want to thank Messick's for the great service on the parts I ordered. I also ordered a shop and a parts manual!! I even ordered enough super UDT and filters to last almost a year. Great customer reps there. Now that I have the parts manual , I can order more specifically. Thanks again for the excellent service Messicks!! Bordercollie

Glad to hear your "ball joint" job went without a hitch. It's always good to have a couple of quality "vise grip" pliers to handle those SAE and Metric jobs. I used to havea goodadjustable metric Cresent wrench but I lent it out to someone. And, good to hear customer feedback aboutthe Kubota dealerships out there.

P.S. There are more than a few farmers selling off beef cattle because of hay prices going sky high here in sw PA. And, the summer, so far,has been so wetas its impossible to make much decent hay. Summer pastures are good but.... looks like a tough winter ahead.

Thank you :-)

I ordered the parts from Messick's after a bad experience with my local Kubota counterperson. The shipping costs were less than the taxes I would have paid here. Last yr we bought about 220 tons of corn gluten at 110$ a ton and 100 tons of cotton seed at $130 ton .I mix that with a cotton by product called mote or moate. Wealso useabout 300-400 tons of that during the feeding season.{late Oct- late March depending on weather conditions}We have been told that the cottonseed will be close to $400 a ton this fall... we haven't even checked on the other stuff. There is an ethanol plant that has just opened in Vicksburg but that will probably be cost prohibitive as well ...but folks have to have something to feed the animals so we are going to check into this. I understand there is a high sulfur content in the by product and since we have a sulfur water content that could spell trouble for the cows. ...symptoms similiar polio couldaffect the animals because of the combined effect. The wet by-products won't hold up in this humidity.. It's like a steamy shower today.Maybe this winter it will be worthwhile to check into. We are still feeding our registered calves that have just been weaned. We don't use muchhay in the winter because it is so labor intensive. We sold our hay equipment several yrs ago. We do mix about 2 small bales in the feed wagon to get that 2" long fiber that the rumen requires. Speaking of wrenches.....you crecent probably is keeping friends with my channel lock linesman's I lost this week.My favorite pair because they have that spring in them that makes them easy on the hands..I agree winter looks tuff.. People here are still zipping up and down the road though. Bordercollie

I will try to post a picture of the ball joint placement just to see if I am posting pictures correctly. If not I will try later. Thanks Bordercollie
