Been awhile guys, looking at a 2006,

Hello everybody, been awhile since I have been here, and am looking to buy a 2006 RTV, and need an answer. I am going to calll it decompression knob so you can change the gears more easily, does the 2006 supposedly have it? I could not tell in the pics the guy sent me, and just want to be sure. I ended up selling the 2004 model I had and now I cant live without one, so finally found another. I used it an awful lot to check cows and use a 50 gallon sprayer, ideal for it. The 06 has less than 200 hrs. very clean, and he said he gets the dealer to service every 50 hours and has all the records. I am going to spend $7000, which am comfortable with that, he came off $400 to help me with the shipping. It has the plastic top, glass windshield and looks like the bed has never had anything in it, so what do you think?

thanks, Rock

Daddyrab,

Ours was manufactured in thevery last days of 2006 >>> andit has the pressure release knob .... NOW, I'm not saying that machine you are looking at has it. But, my bet is that it does have it ...

Now 7K is a very good price for that machine with only 200 hrs and the service records to back up the words !!!!

If I needed another, there is not doubt that I would cut acheck for 7K in a heartbeatfor that machine that you described .... RTV's, can't beat them >>> That is just my 2 cents worth !!!!

Ask the seller if he has ever cleaned out the spark arrestor. NO big deal on them models, they are at the end of the tailpipe and one can just snatch it off with just removing one screw >>>

Tires ? What kind >>>>> Dump bed ?Manual or hydro >>>

And to be sure about the TRUE year one is, look at the VIN # >>>>

If remember correctly, that your VIN # on your unit will go something like the ninthspot in your VIN NUMBER.

It will go something like : KRTV900AX0000000

Where the " X " is, should be the year >>>>>

Daddyrab, I know what you mean. I use my '05 here on the farm everyday. That power steering is great for spraying alright .Like Two Guns says, the type of tires and whether it has hydraulics will influence the price. If it has hydraulics that is a good price.... I just banged up my hand and I can drive this baby so easy even with the blue fingers and purple knuckles.. I just can't get out of work with the RTV around... It makes most any job better>>> Bordercollie

Best take care of that hand.... Never thought much about the power steering and doing things with one hand. Something to think about ....

bordercollie, you know ifhelp is needed, we got workers here that is always ready to give a friend a helping hand at anything on a farm .... all you gotta do is holler >>>> we will be there!!!!

Thanks Two Guns, I feel fine and can now move my fingers ..it just looks bad and a little swollen. It will be good as new in a few days. Things are fine here.I do appreciate the offer though. My nephew will be home from college for a couple of weeks. He's a good young man and is very courteous. ... On the RTV..I do think that 06 is a reasonable buy at $7000... I have seen an 07 for $8000 in the farmer s market paper here. The key is condition..and that sounds to be good... Bordercollie

Thanks bordercollie and Two Guns, yes it has the dump bed, original tires, you can tell if a machine has been in the mud even after washing sometimes you know, this thing is super clean. The guy said his wife used to go up a steep hill from their home after she had hip surgery. the muffler stil looks like new, I just didnt see the knob on the dash and figured he might be wrong on the year model, gonna call today and get the serial #, but still think it is a good deal, for the way it has been taken care of. Thanks again guys,

Don't let that knob being " not there " shy you away ~~~ Sounds like agreat deal on agreat machine ~~~

Why could one not install" a knob " to release the pressure.I've even thought about moving my knob wherethe rearaxle lockis located ( In that Area ) But changed my mind, for I never have to use mine. Think I maybe has touched it about three times. Twicejust to see something ~~~

My opinion, get the machine !!!! Much cheaper than one of thedealers lot, that's for sure !!!

Excellent question Two Guns....Mine does not have the "knob" or brake pedal pressure relief feature...Certainly my main source of aggravation with the shifting out of gear is my inability to relieve the pressure. This is particularly the case when coming to a stop on an incline with a heavy load in the box. I asked my dealer if a retro fit were available for older machines (like mine 2004). He said "NO".

I'd be interested in the response of some of the "mechanically gifted" members on the feasability of upgrading to this "improvement".

THE KNOB............

Now this pure speculation on my part so forgive me for the post if "the knob" doesn't function as I understand it. I don't have "the knob" on mine so I cannot verify my suspicion.

Question: Is it possible to activate the knob while the machine is in motion or is it interlocked to only be functional with the pedal fully released. What I,m getting at is there have been numerous posts over the years in regards to lack of power. If the linkage from the knob is not set right (or the brake pedal equivalant if so equipped) I would conclude that the relief valve coud remain open or partially so thus decreasing the hydro pressure available to produce the power.

Pure speculation on my part, but again I'd be interested in hearingif this could be possible. Mine has none of the pressure relief additions, but I certainly have no issues with my RTVs grunt n pull ability.

Look at the site above and read all ~~~~~~

This is what was mentioned before. And to answer your question..... YES, one can activate the "knob" while in motion. And YES, if you are moving, and pull the " knob " you will loose movement for pressure is lost. That is why on this other thread, owners were ask to check the adjustment on the pressure relief accessory. AndYes, one could lose power if it was somewhat, barely, and only very little pulled out of adjustment. I know, for I've barely pull mine once just to see ..... and lost power, just that quick !!!!

Thanks Two Guns....Thats how I figured it worked. Because I never had any, "power issues" with my unit, I never bothered to really investigate. BTW..The reference to a "two stage pump" is incorrect in my opinion. Its just Hydaulics-101. High flow =low pressure, Low flow=high pressure. Pedal to the floor=low pressure, pedal partially depressed = high(er) pressure.

I don't recall the year of Charles machine, but I wonder if this could be at least part of his power problem?? (just me speculating again)

Didn't mean to start a war guys. The guy sent me a partial serial #, 46620, and on one of the pics I saw it does not have the KNOB so I am just wondering if this is an 04 and not an 06? But the machine is immaculate, never been in the mud, nothing in the bed, but if is an 04 is it worth the $7000?

Kanook,

I have heard oftwo ( 2 ) machine that wereout of adjustment. After settingthe adjustment back, ALL the power was back as normal....

So, that could be one of Charles' problem >>>> He will have to check it out !!!!!
but if is an 04 is it worth the $7000?
Thats approx what I paid for my 04 purchased privately last Feb and it was in pristine condition with 105hrs on the meter. As long as it doesn't have The gearshift from hell sticking out of the dash like mine does, I say go for it. Ask the seller if it shifts easily. I suspect that is the reason the seller unloaded his machine on me.

Daddyrab, '04 or an '06? Hummm.... If I remember right , there were some improvements beginning in '05 at some point . I think maybe the seats are different on an 06 and up but I am not certain....maybe even the tailgate latches? I know the spark arrestor was changed after my 05 came out as mine was mounted on the end of the muffler with a single screw. Then they became internal and I believe that on the newer models there are bolts to take off the tailpipe and pull out and " clean "the arrestor. ???? If mine was an 04 and one just like it was offered to me for $7000 . With almost no hrs I would take it but I do think it is on the high end of reasonable. I have seen 07 and 08's down here in the deep south for around $8000-8500 with less than 500 hrs. I have a feeling that my machine with 2820 hrs is worth about 3500 -4000. So I am keeping it for as long as I can and will get an updated one with some of the kinks out ofthe earlier yrs ...if and when I do trade up. It might outlive me though. I need a short tractor to pull a 300 gallon spray rig more..Anyway back to your thing, Is it close enough that you can test drive it to make sure it 's not a lemon factory??? Bordercollie..........

Assuming the partial serial # provided is the last 5 digits (as it appears to be), that's not a 2004.

Serial # 50000 rolled out of the factory in December 2005. I'm not sure if it was being sold/listed as an 05 or 06.

The easiest way to find out is to call Kubota Customer Service at (31) 370-3370. Give them what you have of the serial number and they can tell you the date it was manufactured.

OK guys, it is an 05, and it is on the way. Guy is sending his bill of sale when he bought it, it was manufactured, I think he said in 10-05, but as I said, it is like new, his wife was the only one to drive it. I will post some pics when I get it, cant send the pics he sent me cause I cant seperate them from the file. Well this will give me 5 kubotas in the yard again, and am glad to be getting this RTV to add to the pile. I apprecaite all the help on this guys, should be here latter part of the week, let you know. thanks, Rock

I'm glad to hear that it is an 05. And, the fact that it was well cared for is another plus.Enjoy .!!!!!!!!!! Bordercollie
