Bighorns on a 1100?

Has any one tried 25x10x12 Maxxis Bighorns on a 1100 yet or am I going to be the test pilot on this one? The stock atv tires look a little lost and hay, its only money[:)]. Bob

As far as I know, you're the guinea pig.

There's a lot of them on 900's but haven't heard of someone putting them on the 1100 yet.

A couple thoughts/questions...
With the 1100 weighing in at 2400# and having a cargo capacity of another 1600#, you can tip the scales at right around 2 tons.
Although the Bighorns are 6-ply but I've run the air pressure up pretty high (20+) and can still make them squat under a heavy load.
I wonder as these things get heavier and heavier if it's time to start thinking about off-road tires that fit jeeps and trucks. When I think of ATV tires, I think of tires rated for about 500#. Well, a loaded 1100 is going to probably put about 1300# on each of the rear tires.

Anyone have a weight rating for the Bighorns???

I haven't seen a load rating on any of the ATV tires and the stock tires on my 1100 only say 6 ply on them. The only heavy duty ATV type tire I know of is the Essex Surefoot but they look like they'd be a little tough on the yard and I've heard they ride awfully hard. Any input on this? I will be plowing snow and general hauling around the place to service my tractors and equipment. Gravel driveway, no deep mud, but this clay gets some awful greasy when wet, lots of steep hills. I won't be ordering for a week or two when the Super Grip Cast Aluminum Wheels I want become available so I'm listening. Bob

All OEM RTV1100 tires are 6-ply as well, so they should be fine and fender clearance should be about the same as the RTV900 if not better (you should have more front fender clearance).

Following Two Guns advice I researched ITP 589s and Mudlite XTRs. The word from the tec guy I spoke to at ITP was the 589s were rated up to 1300pounds each depending on pressure. The 14" Mudlites sounded good but they don't make 14" wheels for the RTV and, for what I want to do the 589s sound better. Thanks for the input everyone! Bob</P>
