Blizzard 720 LT Plow on RTV 1100

I live in NE PA and have a long uphill shale drieway. I have used the RTV 1100 to keep my 1/4 mile driveway plowed. I bought the 1100 with the Kubota/Curtis plow. I shattered the frame of the plow last year and now have just purchased the Blizzard plow. I am hoping this plow will take the punishment my long drieway will dish out. The RTV has been great. I am wondering if we get a nasty strech of snow if I can put chains on the front and rear of the RTV.

The Blizzard should provide you better service.I have the same blade on my 900. Chain 'er up and push that snow. One of the members from the Yukon use chains and he may chime in with advice along with others that reside in snow country.:letitsnow:

Hey XTrooper. Glad to hear about another RTV snow-pusher. Sorry about your Curtis experience, though. I am in my 3rd winter with the Curtis in front of my 900 and have had no difficulties. And I maintain a total of almost 2 miles of gravel driveway, some quite rough. Not that I would not trade my Curtis for your Blizzard! :-) Regarding chains, once we have a layer of snow down I chain up all four wheels and leave them chained until my last plowing in the Spring. All I can say is that I have had no problems at all.

Good day, Onfoot. As I recall, you previously mentioned that you had a snow blower for your machine. Might I inquire as to the make and model, and does it use the same basic hydraulic set-up as the blade? Thanks. If I'm wrong about the snowblower, I'll just chalk it up to being an old guy.

Nice winter so far, eh ????? Heh heh RR

10-4 Thanks for the info. It's looking like a teaspoon will suffice for snow removal around here so far this year. I'm okay with that, but know it likely won't last. I'm taking my RTV 1100 (Cecil the Diesel) in for a 100 hour warranty service this morning. He's had a pretty easy life so far. I'm having a rear work light kit installed. Almost backed into the garage the other night.

Thanks again for the info. Bye for now. RR

Don't force the connector on to hard as mine shorted out and they had to replace wire harness going to 1100.
it was under warranty....i got lucky
There will be a gap about 1/16 to 1/8 at one end....so I just used electric tape aroud the formed rubber boots.
My budy has the same setup as mine and his has this gap also.
And I didn't even press it on that hard....just wiggled it together and it shorted out inside the formed rubber boot.

@XTrooper -
I also have an RTV1100 with a Blizzard LT720. This is my third winter plowing with it. I plow one driveway in particular which has large (3" diam.) stones in it, and so far there have been no problems. The Blizzard mounting system is the best I've seen (I am NOT a professional). Sorry I'm late to the thread. I'm trying to catch up.

We had two major dumps of snow in the last little while. Old Cecil (the diesel) never even broke a sweat. I'm mighty impressed with how much snow this little guy will push. All is working fine.

Just sold my snowblower so that can go into my motorcycle fund. Thanks for the comments. RR

On my first post I mentioned that the Curtis plow did not hold up for me on my 1/4 mile long shale driveway. I probably should have mentioned that there is a stone wall on one side of the driveway and if I am not paying attention, I can bounce off the stone walls. Not good for ANY plow. I used the Blizzard about 10 times so far this winter for my drive, my mother in laws farm along with an elderly neighbor's drive. I am very pleased with the Blizzard plow. It has held up well, no problems at all. I check the plow after every use and don't see any problems. My opinion is that the Blizzard cost 2X what the Curtis costs, but it is at least 2X the quality plow. Really happy so far. Two weeks ago we got quite a bit of ice, so I put chains on the rear and really like how they work. I may try to go for the diamond shaped snow chains on all four tires for next winter. Thank you everyone for all the advice. XTROOPER

XTROOPER......I agree with your evaluation of the BLIZZARD plow . It is a very solid and beefy unit and the one on my RTV900 is serving me well .
