Thanks for the suggestions for my RTV bogging out problem. Looks like there is something in the tank, clogging the filter really quick. Cant imagine what got in there, but its there. Now, gotta fix it. Some of you have replaced the fuel tank with a better one, (for the fuel cap). How is the tank removed? Ill call my dealer today, and see what he sais. I have no other relation to the dealer, other than this purchace a few years ago, so this might not go anywhere. The dealer is 3 hrs way, so its not like i can just stop in...

Great forum. Thanks to all that had a suggestion.

I worked in Public Works at Fort Lewis, Washington until I retired but I can tell you with experience with heating oil and diesel in boats that if your fuel sits for a long time it will grow an algae that clogs everything. They make an algicide that you can add that will stop this but not sure what it is called. We use to have a machine that you drop a hose into the tank and recirculates the fuel and removes the contaminants. Maybe this is how the contaminate got into your tank.

I notice you are also in Gunnison Colorado and can tell you another problem that happens with #2 Diesel that all truckers are aware of. The paraffin in diesel at low temperatures comes out of solution and clogs the filters with a wax like substance. Retailers of Diesel place an additive in the fuel during winter months or they sell #1 Diesel to prevent trucks from stalling. This may be what is happening in your case. You can buy additive that will dissolve the Paraffin.

Jeff,

If you can, please do a couple things for us.
- Let us know what's in your tank to cause the clog? Jelling, algae, dirt...
- Also post the information in the original thread so the thread is complete from issue through resolution for future reference.

I haven't removed the tank myself but here's what I figure.
Remove the black plastic cowling on the passenger side (the big trim piece that goes around the fuel cap.
Disconnect the lower fuel line and drain the fuel.
Disconnect the return hose and wiring harness (for the fuel level sensor)
Remove the tank band. This is probably accessible from under the seat
Slide the tank out from the side of the RTV (under the passenger side hand rail).
