Extended Warranty

Received a post card in the mail today that the warranty on our Kubota RTV
X1100C was going to expire next month and to call my dealer for a cost to extend it. Called this morning and its $800 for a 1 year extension and $1350 for 2 years. I'm not one to generally purchase extended warranties - but wonder how many of these they sell at that price.

I have had mine for two years and have not had any issues, if I used it in a rough manner and or was having issues then it might be worth it but then Kubota would probably just blame me and not cover it anyway. I will take my chances.

This is a calculated risk on the part of the insurance company. They don't even worry about the chances of repairs. What they most consider is how much they think you'll pay.

I never buy extended warranty. My philosophy is that if I think I truly need it, then I bought the wrong piece of equipment. Why would I do that????

There is a good profit margin in those extended warranties. The bil negotiated on his new truck. To make the deal, the dealer came down a 1/3 or there abouts on the cost.He usually won't buy them, but there are a lot of electronic gadgets on a road vehicle nowadays. The RTV warranty... well.... I agree with others.. I don't think they would cover what happens on or to mine. Now, if I were buying a new machine, I would negotiate it in the deal.
Also if a person isn't mechanically inclined, it would be worth considering .. if they cover everything . Just get it in writing what is excluded. collie

Unless you have ongoing issues that never got corrected 100% during the warranty period, I personally wouldn't do it.

$800 for one year is really high in my book. I don't rack up the hours that others do but I don't think I've put $800 into repairs (non-regular maintenance items) in the 11 years I've had my RTV.
