Was mowing a lawn the other week and the old mower stopped going forwards. Spied a look underneath and the gearbox is hanging off. Spend about 15 long and unpleasant minutes lying underneath it I the rain on a wet lawn patching it up to get it home.
Finally got around to fixing it, in the nice dry of the workshop
The 2 bolts that go into the front of the tranny has stripped out, and thats what had caused all the damage. So I drilled the holes out to the next biggest size, and tapped new threads in
You can see how the front of the box had dropped down due to the bending and breaking of the rear mounts.
I used a jack to bend the front of the box up to the right place, thus bending the mounts back into position. I put the bolts into the new threads, better than new.
And welded the cracks back up. Reinstalled the bolts.
About 30-40 mins work there.
All works nice now
