Ford Ranger MPG

I'm thinking about getting a Ranger, 4 x 4, 6 cyl auto, it would be late model 2003 - 2007. Does anyone have one of these and what should I expect for mileage around town and on the highway ?

I used to have a 2001 4.0L v-6, got about 19mpg around home and 21 whenever I took it somewhere flat, like Missouri. Drove an 86 2.6L v-6 for a while, too - it got around 24 mpg.

I had a 1998 4.0L V-6 with about the same mileage numbers as Erik.
 
I have a 2000 with the 3.0 multifuel V-6. I get around 19city/22country. Not as good as the 2.9 with 4.0 heads I had before-it got 19city/24.5 country. My wife has a 2004 Escape with the 3.0 straight gas, and does better than the multifuel. I had much better performance from the 2.9.
