I don't have the GoLight but do have a magnetic strobe that goes on the roof.

I just installed a piece of stainless steel to the top of the roof. It's about 8"x12" (guessing as I haven't seen it in awhile)

I was thinking about you could install a plate on the inside or should I say, the bottom of the roof, then running your mounting bolts threw it and into the mounting plate on the GoLight.( Something like a sandwich thing on the roof )That would support the light really great with no play init. The mounting plate that comes with the light, installs really easy, then, after you have it in place, the light slides and locks onto the plate, with a set bolt or screw in the back of the light, the light is solid as a rock once it is locked on the mounting plate. For the bottom plate, I would go to your local sign shop, and purchase a piece of 6" or 7" square or whatever need be, ( get them to corner round the corners at a 1" radius ) .080 aluminum sign blank, should cost you about $8 -$12 for the plate, it would always be rust free, easy drilling, and I think your top is black, just lightly ruff up the baked on enamel on the aluminum plate, and paint it with Black KRYLON ENAMEL paint. It WILL come out perfect.

Is everyone using the bolt-on GoLight? I almost ordered one awhile back but I was going to get the magnetic version.

Get the bolt on style, STRYKER model ~~~~ THEY ARE TUFF SEARCH LIGHTS !!!...& carry 500,000 candle watt power

There was a buddy of mine a few months ago, who thought he would rather have the magnetic style. After using it several times, he put it up on the shelf in his shop and ordered several Stryker models for his tractor, utility vehicles, (RTV & Rhino) and two more for his pick-ups. He uses his just about every night on his plantations & catfish farms

The best deal I have found ANYWHERE, was St. Louis Safety Products on ebay, they are putting them on all the time. $ 175.00 & free shipping.

Was the magnetic one he had a Stryker? He didn't like the light or the mount?

I see there's several Strykers out there with the magnetic mount. Generally, it's the same model number with a "-M" on the end to denote it's a magnetic mount.

I prefer magnetic (or suction cup) in that it's easily moved from vehicle to vehicle. I don't want to buy one for every machine. My thoughts would be to get a magnetic and then I can just move it to the tractor or truck or whatever if/when needed.

It doesn't appear St. Louis Safety Products has any listed on e-bay right now. Do you know if they have a web site?

The Stryker model , hasonlya solid mount system only . The Stryker model is the onlymodelSt. Louis Safety sells. All other GOLIGHT's is only 400,000 candle watt power. Stryker is the only model with the 500,000 ~~~~ You might can find one from another source & have seen some suction cup models on ebay at times. After receiving mine in, and looking at it, I don't see why a man couldn't make his own suction system, all you would have to do is install the mouning plate on a suction cup product. St. Louis Safety Products auction just went off yesterday 7/25,on some of theirs Strykers, they will put some more on in a few days, that's the way they do. They been running them for about four months now. When I see them back on, I will let you know.

Also, I contacted St. Louis S/P when mine came in, and asked them a question about the installation on the master command control, During our conversation, he said you will not see the kit on the Golight website that they sell, for St. Louis makes the Master command control and adds it on in the packages. These are made strictly for law enforcement units. That's the business that they are in is manufactoring extra gadgets for great products. And I will say, it is a awsome remote

I see that, which is good for the folks who need / want the suction systems. Notice the price ?

As soon as I see it pop back up on ebay, I will contact you, for I have already used the devil out of mine. Love that wireless remote, been using mine lately looking at the gators in the swamps ~~~~

I think I prefer our deer and turkey... They don't have any interest in my 5-year-old son playing in the water...

Great advice. Thanks... [:D]

Based on your experience with this product:

Can the controller be easily mounted on the dash?

Will the light work for additional lighting forward and rear (meaning I don't need to add additional lights)?

With a Plastic Top and no liner what would be the best way to run the wires?

Have you run wires in the ROPS?

Thanks

Doug,

I know you asked 2-guns but just wanted to show you how I ran my wires.
Take a look at this pic.
http://compacttractorreview.com/cs/forums/storage/22/8511/MVC-774S.JPG

The grey schedule-40 pipe that's going up the rear of the ROPS is how I got my wires up there. From there, it's into a fuse panel then either switches or directly to the device (e.g. Stereo).

I don't know if it can or cannot be mounted in the dash ~~~ I mounted mine above my head, and really like it there, for it is out of the way of anybody playing with it or knocking it with there knees. Like bczoom said, most folks use the marine gang switchs and go from there. And yes, it will for sure work for additional lighting situations.

Running the wires can be done several ways, I myself ran threw the ROPS, and found it pretty easy, also, ****** that is a great way bczoom ran his wire !!!!! I myself, like bczoom, made my panel to install all items overhead. Made my panel out of .080 aluminum out of my sign shop. Most sign shops carry the aluminum blanks for signs. They are not expensive at all ~~~~ Double click on pic and bring it all the way open ~~~~

Here is a pic at where my is sitting on my metal top ..... Dont think it much differance from one to another, metal or plastic ! That's a lens cover over the front of the light ~~~~ just snap it back on when you are not using it ~~~~

OK 2-guns, I have a couple questions for you.

Question 1
Since your mount is positioned at an angle (leaning forward), how hard is it to control the remote to sweep left to right (and such)? Is the control smooth enough to be able to swivel and tilt pretty smoothly?

When looking at the pic I included previously in the thread (to show the conduit), you'll see where I put the strobe light. That's where I'd probably put the GoLight. It's nice and flat and almost in the center of the roof. That would allow me to sweep side-to-side without adjusting the tilt on the light.

BTW - As noted, where that strobe light is mounted is where I have that piece of stainless steel. If I wanted to take the strobe off and pop the GoLight on, the other (both having magnetic mount) just sticks itself to the back of the rear cage. I don't need to un-wire anything.

Question 2
What's that "thing" that appears to be mounted to the rear cage?[*-)] (I won't even ask why it appears a penis is coming out the bottom, pointing towards the drivers seat...[:$][+o(])

Have all control needed to sweep right & left, up & down , I knowexactlywhat you mean. And I thought about the same thing you did !!!!! It's as easy as pointing your finger and moving it any direction you want. The light control is really simple. Smoothly and Perfect. Before I bolted it on for good. Yes, I did test fire it and it worked for me just as good as if I would have mounted it on the very top. Had special reasons why I put it where I did .........

Installing your Golight where you strobe light would be a perfect place in your case. On mine, that is where the Law Enforcement Light Bar goes when needed ~~~~~ Have it rigged where it can be installed and removed in just minutes ....

To answer you second question, it the private part of a KUBOTA V4271 High Mount Cleaner ROPS Kitand I DO BELIEVE IT IS AMALE !!!!

Hey Brian, here's how I handled the problem of mounting my GoLight on a sloped part of the roof without skewing the pan feature. I built a small metal stand that bolts to the lower slanted part of the roof and provides a flat level surface. I bolted it thru the roof and then mounted the GoLight to the upper plate. That way when I rotate the light the beam stays at the same level.

Andrew

I am thinking about mounting the Golight in the middle of the plastic roof but over the back ROPS, it is flat and very solid there. Also I should be able to use the Golight and not need any additional lights mounted on the RTV? Or would I still need halogens in the front on top and rear bed lights?

I am thinking about mounting the controls on the front ROPS bar, in the center. Does this make sense? Of is there a better place such as the front dash? Please remember the RTV will be open all year, at this time I am not planning a windshield nor doors.

Andrew again your rig looks great.

BC your wiring setup is great.

Two Gun did you get the XXX high air cleaner?[:$]
