headlight meltdown

I just discovered a problem that I have not seen addressed on the forum. I noticed that one of my headlight bulbs has melted down thru the plastic housing and is now at the bottom of the housing pointing up at an angle! I know those bulbs get hot but it must have jiggled out of the mount and contacted the plastic housing during one of my rides. Then when I later turned it on it cut thru the plastic like a cutting torch. I don't think there is much you other owners can do to prevent the damage ahead of time, just wondered if I am the only one that has a bota that is cross-eyed.

I would imagine it could happen on anything if the light comes out of the socket set. Thanks for the heads up on this, will go out and make sure ours is set and steady in place.

Thanks,

I had the same problem - melted thru and down. I repaired it by using (You guessed it) duct tape. I also covered the other lamp so it cannot come loose with the same!!!!!!! jerry

Love the artwork of duct tape >>>>>>>

Seriously, what did you tape, the wires out of the way or something. My machine in 30 miles away, at the farm and cannot see it right now, I'm trying to imagine what in the hell is duct taped ~~

Two guns I taped the plugin which also included the wiring. Since the BURN cut a slot from the bulb location to the bottom of the plastic lense, I also taped that area. Taping this area will not allow the plug to vibrate loose and move. I was surprised by how easy it is to unplug the light. Jerry
