John Deere Front Loader Problem

I have a model 770 Tractor that just recently started exhibiting problems with the front loader (Model 70) where one can tilt the bucket but unable to raise it. It's almost as if the hydraulic fluid is some how bypassing the piston which raises the bucket. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

Welcome to the forum.

How are the connections at the quick-connect (just in front of your left foot)?

It could be a problem in the cyclic control valve but that's pretty rare.

As bczoom mentions, the quick couplers would be first suspect. When you try to raise the bucket, does it load the engine down and do you hear hissing noise from the hydraulics? If so the I would change the hydraulic couplers or just make sure they are plugged in securely. If you dont hear a change in engine or any hydraulic noise, then you could have a bad cylinder(blown seals or a piston that has come off.) Did you have any warning that this problem was coming? Did the bucket leak down increasingly faster? Or was it working fine one minute and suddenly quit?
